Endura Flap Threshold Replacement - PVC

The Endura Flap PVC Replacement Threshold

 is designed to reduce magnet strength at the bottom of the Endura Flap.  This strength reduction is a part of the 'Ease of Access / Wind Resistance' adjustability that is built into the Endura Flap based pet doors.

The reduction in magnet strength is accomplished by thickening the top wall of the threshold a small amount. This thickening results in the magnets remaining slightly further apart when the threshold rises up to meet the flap when compared to the metal threshold.  Since the magnets start in the same position when the threshold is at rest, no magnet strength is lost when pulling the threshold up to the flap.

Also, because the PVC threshold is lighter than the metal threshold, less magnet strength is required to pull it up. Because of this lighter weight, the magnets in the threshold may be inserted upside down in their stainless steel carrier. This change further reduces the magnet strength required to push open the flap.

As a final point, the PVC threshold makes a somewhat less harsh sound when it comes up to meet the flap.

The PVC threshold has been standard on the Endura Flap pet doors since the beginning of 2012.
