The Ideal "E" Cat Electronic Cat Flap for Sash Windows

is large enough for even very big cats. They also incorporate a '2-way' locking mechanism which means that this cat door can be locked or unlocked independently of the electronics. There is also a 3rd setting which disables the electronics--probably a useful training device.

While the Ideal "E- Cat" door would appear to be large enough for even a medium-sized dog, it is recommended only for cats. The reason is that for the unlocking mechanism to work properly, the collar key must touch the sensor as the pet approaches the door. Cats will crouch and drag the key over while dogs are more upright and won't get the consistent unlocking needed.

It's important to plan in advance that the cat will be approaching from slightly below the flap rather than at the same level for this reason.
