The Ideal "Ultra-Flex" Pet Door

incorporates a three-part flap consisting of very strong polycarbonate blocks with flexible hinges between them. The polycarbonate blocks are hollow so they improve the insulation value. There is plastic weather strip around the flap to provide for a good seal.

The frame is ABS plastic which has the advantage of not conducting heat in very cold climates and not corroding in salt air near the ocean.

Ideal has released an upgraded version of this pet door--the Premium "Draft Stopper"-- that is identical except that the frame is white painted metal and the flap includes 8 magnets for increased resistance to wind.

I have had this door for over 5 years. It works like new. Seals out wind. When I installed it I saved the warranty info in case I needed replacement flap in the future. I recently came across the papers and looked up the company to see if the door is still around. I am happy to find that it is. It is by far the best door that I have ever purchased. I hope that the company keeps making it because I am sure that it will not last forever and if and when it breaks I will want to replace or repair it with the same door. I purchased it at Home Depot but they no longer carry it and I haven't seen it any place else. I don't understand why it isn't carried by all stores. It is clearly superior to any other door that I have ever seen.
