The Ideal "Cat Sash" for Sash Windows
is available in two sizes including the Hefty Cat version which is large enough for very big cats or small dogs. They both incorporate a '4-way' locking mechanism which means that the pet door can be set for in only, out only, both ways or completely locked.
A strong point for these sash window pet doors is that the flaps are made from Lexan--generic name polycarbonate--which is very strong. The weak point in this flap design is the "posts" that the flap swings on at the top. The Ideal Polycarbonate "posts" are much harder to break. Along those same lines, it is wise to ensure that the top of the pets shoulder is no higher than the top of the flap opening. This prevents the pet pressing against these "posts".
Another nifty feature is that, because a separate locking cover is not required, you can choose to have the factory mount the flap to the left, right or centered when inside looking out.
