21st Century Electronic Pet Doors

Have you looked around and considered how many electronic devices you are using on a daily basis?  Our lives are totally surrounded by electronics assisting us, guiding us and sometimes frustrating us too.  They have even made their way into the world of pet doors.

Raccoon trying to get in through electronic pet doorThere are many manufacturers producing electronic pet doors to make your life and the life of your furry friends easier and safer.  While electronic pet doors offer the basic functionality of a pet door, to let your dog or cat outside and then back in again, their options and purpose vary.  Like manual pet doors, electronic dog and cat doors can be installed in human doors, walls, sliding glass doors and sash windows.  Additionally, they can prevent unwanted animals from entering your home (a couple of models keep out raccoons), restrict which pets are allowed to use the door, some feature timer controls and some can even raise the “flap” for the pet!  Let’s review some of the most popular models of these doors and their features.

I bought a SureFlap microchip pet door, and somehow have misplaced the brochure that came with it.
I need a copy of it that denotes what the various symbols in the control panel are & how to use, set.
Though I have had other SureFlap doors, this panel is different & I cannot set it for the pet’s return.
    Thank You for your help.

Last year I had an invisible fence brand dog electronic door and fence installed for my 2 dogs. Fence works great and door did at first. When I first started using door I had it on unlock feature. After a few months I put in on auto lock and now my small dog will not use it. Even though I have it on the furthest distance it does not unlock until dog gets right up to it and it makes a loud noise which scares small dog. I had Invisible fence come back out and they tested another new door. They are telling me that I have a radio frequency interference problem, They tried all their frequency settings and and still does not open until right on it. It should open 4 to 5 ft. before dog gets there. Any suggestions?
