Purchasing Process:

Step 1: Prior to proceeding, thoroughly read the contents of this product listing and complete rough measurement estimates of your glass pane and pets to ensure this glass replacement with pet door will be the correct solution for your home and pets (short-legged pets may find the step-over too tall as the step-over will elevate your pet door 3 ¾ inches more off the ground).  If you have any questions about sizing, please reach out to our Customer Service at customerservice@petdoors.com or by phone (800) 826-2871.

Step 2: Hire a glazier to measure the width, height, and thickness of the entire pane of glass that the custom-made unit will replace.  They should review the detailed instructions page for more specific instructions. Ask your glazier to determine if you have Low-E, clear glass, or tinted glass.  They may be able to help you fill out the order form.

Note: It is crucial that these dimensions are accurate since there are no standard sizes.  All Pet Door Guys In the Glass units are custom-made which means they are not returnable and are non-refundable.

WarningThermo-Tru brand sliding glass doors require a specialized glazier for installation. Make sure you do not have a Therma-Tru pet door before purchasing.

Step 3: Place your order on the website and pay for your pet door.  Exact pane dimensions are not entered when you are choosing from the dropdown options on the website.  Standard glass is up to 34" wide x 76" tall and oversize glass is up to 34" wide and from 76” to 92" tall.  Once you place your order, you’ll receive an order confirmation email with an orange "Finish Your Order" button to take you to the order form to provide the exact measurements from your glazier (explained in the next step).

To add an additional step-over to your door, add this additional step-over option to the same cart you placed your order with.

Step 4: Complete the order form.

A. Clearly write or type the shipping address in the designated space.  Standard size glass (up to 34" wide x 76" high) can be shipped to a residence and oversize glass (up to 34" wide and from 76 to 92" high) must be shipped to a business (non-residential) address.

B. Write in the Quantity. Based on the glass information provided by your glazier, complete the Glass sections.  Select Glass Thickness.  Clearly write or type in the Width and Height of your actual glass (not visible glass) and lastly, select the Glass Type for your custom pane.

Note:  The minimum glass size allowed can be determined by your desired flap size:  add 6" to your desired flap size’s width and add 7” to it’s height.

C. Complete the remaining sections of the form.  Select flap size (reference this measurement guide), frame color, additional step-over height, and Pet Door Opening. For the Pet Door Opening review the instructions.  The ‘X’ represents where the pet door is placed as if you are standing outside your home and looking inside.

Note: Due to the pet door frame thickness, if the sliding glass door slides inside the fixed/non-operational panel, the pet door must be installed on the sliding glass door.  If the slider slides outside the fixed/non-operational panel, the pet door must be placed on the fixed piece of glass.

D. Email the Order Form to customerservice@petdoors.com. Your order will be on hold until we receive this information. Please refer to our full set of instructions

Please note that this door may take 4-5 weeks to build once the order form is approved. Additionally, allow transit time for delivery.  You will receive a tracking number and carrier information once your new pet door ships so you can schedule the installation.

Step 5: Once the door has arrived, schedule the glazier who took the initial measurements to come back for installation. They will remove the original pane and install the new In the Glass pet door into the sliding glass door frame.

We recommend keeping your sliding glass doors original glass should you choose to reverse the process in the future. You can reuse the box your new unit shipped in to store the original piece of glass.

Can you change the flap in the glass units if it wears out?

Yes, you can purchase replacement Endura Flaps® on the website, it might sound strange, but you will need to purchase the one for the Door/Wall Mount since that includes the hole plugs.  However, they can be a little difficult to replace because you must remove the whole frame in order to get the new flap into place properly.

Can I lock the pet door when I don't want my dog to use it?

The flap itself will be coming with a locking cover. This cover slides on the track of the frame to securely prevent access.

Can I get this shipped to my house instead of the glass company?

If you get the standard sized pet door,  it can be shipped to a home. However, if you have an oversized unit, it is best to ship to your glass company. Additional fees will be charged to your account if an oversized unit goes to a residential location.
