Endura Flap Pet Door for Doors

The most energy efficient, flexible flap pet door is the Endura Flap. Not only will this pet door save you money on your heat/AC bills, but it will last you forever and it is backed with a superior 15 year warranty. If you’re looking for the best pet door for your dog or cat you’ll find the Endura Flap triumphs over the competition, and it happens to be designed and made in the USA!

Features of the Endura Flap Door Mount

  • Flap material is a polyolefin-based polymer which is safe for your pets and the environment, and remains flexible in temperatures as low as -40 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Select single or double flap; single flap models only have one flap on the interior frame, and double flap models have a flap on the interior and exterior frame for extra insulation.
  • Four different sizes that have a high aspect ratio, meaning they are taller and narrower to better fit more pets.
  • Solid magnet strips along the sides and magnets at the bottom of the flap keep your pet door sealed year round. Strength is adjustable for easy training.
  • UV and wind resistant, the Endura Flap has been designed to remain sealed in winds up to 50 mph.
  • Heavy duty aluminum frame provides extreme strength and durability.
  • Durable and secure locking cover to close your pet door when necessary; equivalent to 1/16” steel.
  • Designed to fit doors 1/2" - 1 3/4" in the single flap version and 1 3/4" to 2 1/4" in the double flap version. (Adjusting the single flap to less than 1 3/8" requires cutting the trim frame with a jig saw)
  • 90 day return policy, and a generous 15 year warranty for your peace of mind.

Perfect Time for an Endura Flap Pet Door

  • If insulation is a concern, the Endura Flap is the most insulated pet door available. Perfect for extreme weather conditions, whether it be sun, snow, wind or rain.
  • Replacing flaps frequently can be frustrating, however the Endura Flap often only needs replacing if a dog decides to take a bite out of it! It rotates on a rod at the top to eliminate any stress points that might tear over time.
  • If you have multiple dogs sharing a pet door, the taller design of the Endura Flap can help you accommodate the height of the larger dog while keeping the flap low enough for the shorter dog to step through.

Note: Endura Flaps™ are not recommended for use by kittens or very small dogs. Cats and tiny dogs have been successful using the Small, however a few have found the Medium difficult to use. We would not recommend using the Large or Extra Large or any of the double flap versions for cats. While there are some cats who will use them, we also hear of plenty of cases where these pet doors actually keep the cats inside while allowing dogs out!

There has been lots of discussion as to why the Endura Flap is such a high performing pet door, but for engineers or those looking for some more technical information here is a 74-page dog door energy efficiency study showing what makes it so special.

Great Deal for a Limited Time: Get any Endura Flap Pet Door for Doors (single flap versions only) together with a Watchdog Security Locking Cover and get a 20% discount on both items! While this door already comes with a standard locking cover, this offer combines the best performance pet door with the best, most secure locking method for the ultimate pet door installation.

  • Very good Product! review by bigmac
    5 5 Very good Product!

We've had 2 of these single flap doors for over 3 years. We are very pleased! 3 60 - 90 pound dogs learned to use it with the first offering of food inside. When it's 100 F+ outside, I love putting my hand on the inside of the flap and barely feeling an above room temperature, with no draft. The only issue is that the top corner of the flap sometimes pops out, adversely affecting the seal, but it's easy to pop it back in.

Ed note: We have contacted the customer with a solution to this issue!

    5 4 Happy dog

I've had my door for a couple of years. I taped the flap up for a few days so she could get used to going in & out. Bribed her with little pieces and steak to get her in and out once the flap was down. It look a couple of weeks but she's been happily going in/out since then. Wish it was more insulated both the door (iced up around the flap on the metal) and air leaks at the bottom of the flap on the corners. I have a small cocker and she's a happy girl she can go out when she wants to. I'm building a house without a patio door-I'll be looking a dog doors inside a regular door next.

  • Excellent Door review by xpurg8d
    5 5 Excellent Door

We have had this door for a few months now and it's the best we've ever seen.

We were concerned because it seemed that our dog was NEVER going to "get it" and use the door on his own, and would only use it if someone lifted the flap and held it for him to go through. We've had a lot of dogs and a lot of doors and never had one this difficult to train for. It was obvious that the super-strong magnets were making the flap latch so that it frightened the dog every time.

Finally I came back to the Pet Doors site and found that we could remove the magnets (it was very easy using a chopstick). I only removed the ones on the very bottom part -- the little rail that lies low and raises up automatically when the flap comes down. The dog immediately began using the door and has done so many hundreds of times since, with no problem. The gap left with the magnets out is so small, I may not bother to put the magnets back in because the side magnets latch the door securely enough for our purposes.

With the super-strong magnet problem solved, this door is excellent.

5 2 Close but doesn't do it, sadly.

(Ed. Note: The customer was contacted and the email chain is included below)

We received your review and wanted to reach out to you to see if there was something we could do to help. We don't hear of the pinching problem with the Endura flap usually because it is heavier, but the flap is flexible. The flap however, because as with any of the heavier flaps, I can see if it did come swinging back especially after the first dog went through at a good clip and bumped them how that would deter them from using the door. If you have been working with them and they still will not use it I would maybe suggest that you return that one and look at another door we have that has much more flexible flaps. Although it won't seal as well it might be a bit more user friendly for the smaller one. Here is a link to the Hale:
    Let me know!

Thank you so much for caring that our dog door works for both of our dogs. We are close, I think, to getting the little one going through. Admittedly without any magnets but that part is easy once she uses it for a couple of months.

Looked at the Hale doors and will definitely keep your offer in mind if it doesn't resolve itself within a reasonable time. She is a willing dog and often if our Lab stops with the door still on her back the little one will dash through, so she knows what she does want to do! The Hale tall/large would be very similar in dimensions to ours, and because of the way our carpenter framed this one in, it wouldn't be hard to swap out.

    Thank you again

First let me say that this is a quality product. It is our third dog door and is a far better design except that the door is rigid and that is where our problem arose. I carefully read all the reviews and thought this would work for our two dogs. We needed the height for our Black Lab, and hoped it would be ok for our 16# Terrier mix. Initial testing showed us that the little dog was going to need practice with the magnets out for a while. All our plans came crashing down when the little one, following closely BUT NOT CLOSE ENOUGH behind the big dog through the door got hit hard in the face. That was it for the little one. We wrote to see if there was a flexible flap available and there is not. Now after weeks of work with the little one using tasty treats and a string to hold it open and then slowly lower it a little bit. No dice. She will push it open to get treats that are close but because the door is rigid there is a bigger problem. She was opening it more and more and then a new disaster! She decided to back up while her head was through and she got trapped with her neck caught by the door because it is rigid! We've gone back to square one but have little hope. We may have to sew magnets in a cloth flap and attach it somehow. Arrgh!

    5 5 Best door ever

This pet door is the best you can get. The seal is so secure that wind and water will not move the flap. Since the flap is hinged, it will not wear and break where attached. They are a bit pricey, but worth the money.

    5 1 A Cautionary Tale

(Ed. Note: The magnets are adjustable so the flaps do not have to be removed)

I read all the training information before investing in an Endura Flap Pet Door. When my older rescue dog wouldn't even approach the door, I decided to removed the flaps, as suggested on the training page. Then I found out that you can't. You have to remove the entire doorframe. Even if you just paid a carpenter to install it. I don't want anyone else to have this same bad surprise. If you have a timid, older dog, this may be an issue for you, too.

This is the best quality dog door I have ever used and I have used many over the years.

    5 5 Great door

Got my first Endure Flap door several years ago. I have large dogs so having a door that resists wind and moisture is a must. Didn't take long to get used to the metalic click when the flap engages bottom rail, and in fact learned to listen for it, I admit I didn't take great care of it, so the crack that eventually appeared along one of the expansion folds wasn't unexpected. Happy dance when I found the same model at PetDoors! Easy to install and works great! - and I'm taking much better care of this one. LOVE THIS DOOR!

    5 5 Solid product, very weather-tight

Quality construction, weather-tight, straightforward to install. Timid dogs might not easily adapt to the double-flap, which takes more force and makes more noise than the single flap.

  • Buy THIS door review by Hairy dogowner
    5 4 Buy THIS door

We installed this dual flap through-door dog door as replacement for a pet-safe model that was worn out (this was 3 years ago). This door keeps out the winter weather of northern NY and only needed to have one of the magnets reglued and the occasional cleaning to keep in great shape (until today). We had family dogs visiting and two of the more wild ones clawed the flaps off while the door was blocked and we were gone. This upsetting situation was made brighter by the fact that replacement flaps and hinge bars are easily found and on the way. Great product !

The positive reviews I read of this door before purchasing are accurate. Sturdy. Holds up with my 17.5 lb dog. I like having the insert to close the door when i go on vacation. I am glad I spent the extra money to get a good door. Doesn't seem to let too much of the summer heat in.

5 5 Great for Small Dogs!

We got the small single flap Endura pet door for our two Yorkies. Installation was easy and I consider myself the average DIY type person. The dogs started using it right away, and with a little training with treats to motivate them. We've had the door for several months now and the dogs go in and out without commands or treats. They are better dogs now and there have been no accidents in the house since getting the door! We live in the Midwest and get heavy rains and winds, and the door doesn't leak or blow open with the winds. We should have got the Endura pet door years ago! We love it!

5 5 Excellent so far ..power bill next winter will tell the tale

So far so good!!! Easy to install, and seems pretty weather tight. I have the double flap door and seems to seal shut well. I expect a noticeable decrease in my heating bill next winter but time will tell. Canadian winters are harsh and having a door that seals well should make a big difference. I have 3 dogs all used to dog door but more of a bar door type rather than a flap. The 2 older dogs figured it out in minutes .... the 2 year old took a while but figured it out eventually on her own time. now everyone is in and out at will. In general it seems like a big improvement over the 2 previous types of doors we have.

    5 5 Great Product!

I did my homework before purchasing this pet door and I'm glad I found this company. I've had two pet doors in the past that didn't last. They had cheap magnetic closures that eventually broke or the flap itself warped from the weather and allowed the hot/cold air in as well as bugs. This pet door, however, shuts securely and doesn't allow anything in except my pets. The clicking of the door when it shuts is quite loud, but you get used to it and it's worth it to have the door shut like it's supposed to. All in all, I think this is a great product and I highly recommend it. Spend the extra money. This pet door is worth it.

Awesome quality product. Buy this, not the cheap ones. You get what you pay for. The only thing I was confused about was I couldn't find the template anywhere. I had to install it that day so we were able to figure it out. When I was filing all the paperwork, I found the template in with the paperwork that said "if you need to returns/exchanges. Since I had no interest in that, I never opened that look through all the paperwork before starting whether needed or not.

Before purchasing I did my homework. I've got two big rough dogs and one of them is afraid of everything! Instructions were good and installation easy. The quality of this door surpasses by far all others I looked at in stores locally. It cost a little more and worth every bit of it. This is a great quality door that the dogs love using now and gives me peace of mind to know their comfort and safety are taken care of. I recommend this door without a doubt!!!

This is a very good door. It works well and seals up well. The noise that so many folks talk about is a non-issue. My only problem is the directions have you cut a hole that is really too big; it works but leaves a lot of room for error.

This has been by far the best dog door for us. We've used them for for nearly 15 years now, both the large double-flap for our standard poodles and now the medium double-flap for Tibetan terriers. It keeps the weather out and allows the dogs to go in and out at will. I highly recommend this product.

I am extremely impressed with this dog door. I live in a hot climate and the door is really energy efficient. Because the flap has magnets all along the sides of the door it requires a little more effort to push out. My dogs had no problem learning how to use it. I highly recommend this door!

This is our second door to install allowing the dogs to exit from both of our exterior doors going to the back yard. You will not be disappointed in this door, trust me, it even keeps the dust and outside air out like the main interior door is closed. We have had the first door about two months and we will never use another door for our pets. We have large dogs 50-70 lbs. We had to get use the the noise the doors make as the dogs enter and exit, but we don't even notice it now. I will take the noise over the old plastic flap always staying open letting the dust and outside air in. You may find them to be a little pricey, but "you pay for what you get" really it is true with this product.... Thanks for this product.

  • Nice door but not chew proof review by TJ
5 3 Nice door but not chew proof

We purchased the double flap door and have it installed in my heated workshop as part of an indoor/outdoor kennel that the dog is in while we are at work. It seemed like a really nice door with a nice seal when I installed it. Unfortunately, at about 6 months of age, our lab puppy chewed the lower corners of the flaps and pulled all four magnetic strips out, therefore it is no longer the weather proof door that we spent a lot of money on. It seems like the heavy part of the flaps are relatively chew resistant, but the material is thinner along the edges to allow the magnets to seal against the frame. I purchased replacement flaps which were quite expensive, but have not put them on yet because labby is still in the chewing stage. It's a nice door if you have a dog that doesn't chew, but for the price I was disappointed that labby was able to chew the corners and pull the magnetic strip weather seals out of the flaps.

We have been searching for this door. It is exactly what we needed. Living in West Texas with the wind and dust, you have to have a door that fits snug, AND THIS ONE DOES... We've only had this door for a month and just ordered another one. You will not be disappointed, when the dogs go in our out the flap closes so tight we leave our interior door open all of the time now. The house stays cool and has stopped the dust from coming in. We installed our PATIO PACIFIC ENDURA SINGLE FLAP PET DOOR on a high quality storm door and it works perfect. You will have to adjust to the sound, which is louder than the plastic flap we were use to, but it is worth it!!! This door is put together to endure a lot of entrances and exits and that was another thing we were looking for durability. It is solid and engineered to last. Our dogs are 55 and 70 pound dogs, since it closes tighter than the plastic flaps we have had in the past, they will had to adjust to the door as well, but our girls are in and out like it has always been there. If you are looking for a tight fitting pet door- THIS IS THE ONE.....

  • Wonderful review by Fur Mom
    5 4 Wonderful

I live out in an area that receives tons of wind, so my concern was the door would blow open all the time. It doesn't!

I love this door and so do my fur babies!! They like being able to see through the door with out having to open the door.

My only issue with the door, depending on the direction of the wind during a rain storm, the rain water runs down the flap, into the frame of the dog door and down onto the floor. Thankfully, I have a tile floor otherwise the carpet would be wet.

Thank you for making a great product. I really shopped the doors, bought a different one, and returned it...flimsy! Even during installation my family made comments about how nice the door was and thought maybe they should get one!

ed note - The water incursion problem has only been reported twice in many 10's of thousands of purchases. However, we do have a fix for it at Patio Pacific. Contact customer service if you have a question about this.

I've had a few other doggie doors before, but this one wins the prize. Sturdy frame, snug, wind-resistant flap, and the "guillotine-style" cover is solid. • Outstanding Pet Door review by Nancy Lemon
    5 5 Outstanding Pet Door

It's been over 1 year since we installed our Endura Flap pet door (Extra Large) for our 2 VERY BUSY German Shepherds and I have to admit I LOVE this pet door. We live in Texas (Dallas area) so no extended freezing temps but I think if we lived in Minnesota this door would continue to perform flawlessly....... Seals tightly, no air leaks whatsoever, has withstood 45 mph winds directly without blowing open, magnets do a great job of keeping it closed so no worries about insects or other critters invading your house...... my cat can't open the flap (bonus as he's an indoor cat only) and watched a neighbours visiting terrier mix try to get in with no luck! I only have one Con when it comes to this door and that is it's LOUD! The magnets are very strong and when they catch it's a heck of a racket but, as I no longer pay to heat/cool the great outdoors (like I did when I installed the model bought from a local home improvement box store, save your money, that one is total crap!) I can live with the noise! We got the Xtra Large model as our male is quite tall (for a Shepherd) but the Large would of done just fine. My husband & I LOVE this door and recommend it with no reservations, excellent quality just be prepared to live with the noise it makes!

I was looking to replace and upgrade the PetSafe sliding glass door + pet door insert that I had been using for 10 years. I am VERY pleased with my purchase! This door is quite sturdy, surrounding frame is sturdy metal. I needed to replace the patio door for other reasons. I had my door and window contractor frame in the Pet Door with a side light above it. Patio Pacific made a patio door insert that I had also considered. I went with just the door as my contractor was willing and able to add the window above on site. I am a happy customer.

  • Excellent Design and Function. You can't go wrong with this door! review by Bullyx2
5 5 Excellent Design and Function. You can't go wrong with this door!

We recently sold out home and moved across country. In our prior home, we had purchased what was suppose to be a well made, well designed dog door to accommodate our two Bull Mastiffs. The door did not effectively seal out the cold from the wind, rain and snow, nor did it keep the garage much cooler during the heat of summer. After 18 months or so, the plastic flap broke apart at the top where it connected to the door frame. We called the company who told us that for $60.00 they would be happy to send us a replacement flap. After moving onto our new home we immediately began looking on the interner for a quality dog door. We saw the Patio Pacific Endura Flap, watched the demo videos and read the reviews. It was more money than I anticipated paying, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

We have absolutely no regrets in purchasing this door. It is everything that the company claims it to be. A superior product in design and quality. Both our "pups" (137 pounds and118 pounds) were a bit spooked by the flap due to the strong magnetic design of the flap. After being bribed with a cookie or two, both quickly figured out that they just had to push a tad bit harder to push through the flap. During the extreme cold, wind, rain and snow of this unusual winter, the door did a perfect job of keeping out the elements without letting out the warmth of the temperature controlled room. Now that summer is here, we have noticed that this same room stays cool all day long with out the use of A/C. We also are extremely pleased with the strong security door panel and its locking design for when we are away for the day with our dogs. This product may be a bit more expensive than you might be considering, but it is worth every penny. You won't regret purchasing it.

    5 5 Excellent dog door

After much research and consideration, I braced myself for the $$$ and ordered a sIngle flap model.
I installed it myself in a insulated steel door, really wasn't all that hard to do.
My wife taught the dog how to use it in less than an hour.
That was three years ago and the dog door is still as good as new.
About 6 months ago my son bought a home and i gave him one of these doors as a house warming gift (I installed it too).
He and his three dogs love the door and now my son wants to gift his mother-in-law one.

Yes it is pricey, but it is a superior product and in my opinion worth the price.

  • Super Door - Endura Flap review by Baymoor Corgis
    5 5 Super Door - Endura Flap

Best dog door on the market, bar none. I have used many brands in the 34 years I have been in my house, and none have held up or work as well as the Patio Pacific Endura Flap Pet Door. Well worth the investment, these are the last doors I will ever need to buy. The powder coated frame will last far longer than the pressed aluminum or plastic doors I have had in the past. So glad I found them and gave them a try!

  • Worth every cent review by Denmo
    5 5 Worth every cent

This has been the best dog door we have had. We installed it about 9 months ago and had no problems with the instructions, or final installation. We did make a slight adjustment to the recommended sill height to accommodate our black lab, but it was no problem.

The best feature of the Endura pet-door is the magnetic sealed edges on the flap. Compared to the standard flapper door we have had in the past, this kept the cold air drafts down to a minimum in the cold northwest winter. And, the sound of the magnets 'clicking ' as they attach to the frame when the dog goes through is no bother, and reassuring.

Even though this is a bit pricier than the standard flapper, I would strongly recommend the Endura flap pet door; even over the signal type flaps that require a sender/receiver to be attached to a dog collar. With a regular collar/dog tag and electric fence collar, she has enough stuff around her neck to contend with.

5 5 Does exactly what it claims!

I was concerned by the reviews that stated that the unit was noisy when the flap closed. This is installed in the wall of a bed room and I found it no worse than the big box store units with the advantage of not blowing open and letting in dirt and leaves that used to coat the floors and furniture. When we move to another home we will be back for another!

  • A Dog door that actually works! review by Rural South Dakota
5 5 A Dog door that actually works!

Have had the pet door installed for 4 months now (since January) during a brutal winter in South Dakota. The pet door is installed in a steel door that is facing the west and takes the brunt of 50-60 mph winter storm winds and it seals great. I have the double flaps. I have a large lab that runs through the door like an ox, so no problems with him being shy about going through it. The cheap pet doors from the big box stores were prone to the plastic getting brittle and tearing during the winter, but this pet door shows no sign of wear yet.

Basically, I thought this pet door was a little outrageously priced at first, but after $75 for a "cheap" pet door that was nothing more than a glorified framed hole in my door that let all the cold air and wind in, I found this pet door to be well worth the price and cheaper in the long run.

  • Almost TOO Good a Door! review by Ruth
    5 5 Almost TOO Good a Door!

I love the way the door looks. I love the way it doesn't let the wind in. And two of my three dogs have adjusted to it beautifully.

However, my shy rescue poodle does not trust it. The magnet is a bit too strong, or her technique is off, but she hasn't adjusted to it and is still not using it after three months. I've done the training (they loved the treats) but she sits outside and whines rather than use the door. Sometimes she will hit the door with a paw, and when it Snaps! down into place, she decides it isn't safe.

The aggravating thing is that when I had one of those doors that let all the weather in, THAT was OK.

I haven't given up, but it's worth considering that not all dogs adjust easily.

    5 5 the best ever

40 years of pet doors, and this is the ONLY one i have bought multiple time for multiple houses. Well made, easy to install, good directions, STURDY and not an eyesore. (caveat: we ordered the "through the wall version" but received the skinnier "through a door" version. But left it sitting for 4 months before we went to install it. Figuring we had passed the point of exchanges, we managed to install it with some minor work arounds. So check the contents of your box even if you are going to wait to install it :-)
The magnets are strong, but you can remove one, some or all of them to adjust to personality of your pets

At first I was hesitant to buy this pet door due to the price. After having used it for a few months, however, I feel it was well worth the price. It's very sturdy and seals nicely. My dogs started using it right away, and they love the fact that they can look through the semi-transparent door before going through. It seem like it will last for many years--and if it doesn't I plan on taking advantage of the wonderful ten year warranty!

When I initially purchased this door, I had done a lot of research that seemed to point me in this direction. The cost was a little steeper than most, but it seemed like the quality was there so I took a shot. Glad I did. I got the medium / single flap door for 2 - 80 pounders who blast in and out all day and half the night. Even though I never anticipated having a smaller dog, I later ended up taking in a 18 lb stray, who has no trouble using the door either. The ONLY issue I've had in 5 years is a very small piece of vinyl on the hinge comes out of alignment, but it doesn't affect anything. Outstanding product, will buy again when I have a need.

5 1 Don't use pencil for magnet adjustment-risk of painful injury

My finger was cut badly when trying to adjust magnets via method they describe. Had to install an entirely new outside door to accommodate the thinner size of this door (which I needed to keep rodents out). After installing, my dog wouldn't open the door with both magnets. There was no literature in box on magnet adjustment so I followed the video instructions and tried to remove magnets in lower portion with pencil as directed. Pencil would not fit in opening, but I tried to force it with screwdriver, my finger was cut badly by bottom piece. It is hard to do normal every day things since I don't have use of my right index finger. Hopefully this company will change directions or include a tool to help remove magnets.

    5 4 great door

We are very pleased with the pet door. All three of my dogs including the older small dog learned to use the door quickly. The door stayed closed and sealed through a winter of harsh storms with high winds. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because on the Times when the wind was the strongest it occasionally would get caught in an open position because of the dog going through right as the wind gusted. I would have to give it a push and it then would stay closed even though the wind was still gusting. I would recommend this door to anyone and would certainly purchase again.

We have had several outdoor pet flap doors for over 23 years but this pet door is worth every cent. We've had Endura Flap pet door for several years now. Living in WI, it has never froze up, even with the. subzero weather. No wind blows through, the seal is great. When training a new rescue, we can take some of the magnets out to make it easier until the dog is comfortable with it. It is easy to clean and very durable. A most excellent product.

I bought a double flap door last year and was pleased with it, except that it took a while for my dog to get confident enough to bust through it. No problem now. I have a 22 lb. rat terrior and a 52 lb. pit bull mix and the doors work well for both. They adjusted easily and it sure makes life easy for all of us! Living in Rochester, NY, there is lots of cold weather and snow. The doors never stick/freeze. When the temperature dropped here in New York last week down to 22 degrees, it was the first time the door got tested. And I could not feel even the hint of a draft. I got the double door on the advice of a sales consultant and it was worth the investment. No draft at all. None. Zip. Really keeps the cold out and the heat in. Amazing.
My dogs needed a couple of days to figure the door out but now they have no problem with it at all.
I took the time to recommend this product because it is really great. I have had other dog doors and they are not nearly as good as this one. I expect it to stand up to my three big dogs and the weather for years to come.

    5 5 Wonderful dog door!

We bought the extra large door to accomodate our 100 lb. German Shepherd, but the 22 lb. Dachshund can push it open, too. It's in a door to our glassed-in sunroom, which is heated and cooled, so it was important to us that this door be sturdy. It is very well made. We had our contractor install it, so I can't comment on the ease of installation, however, he said it was the best built dog door he had ever seen. It's kind of noisy when the dogs go in and out, but you get used to it. The noise lets me know when the dogs go out or come in. The magnets are very strong; I have yet to see bad weather push it open.

  • Quality Door, Easy to Install review by Nim and Ty's Mom
5 5 Quality Door, Easy to Install

I bought the Patio Pacific Endura Flap door in small to insert into a plywood piece to put into a window for my cats to use to enter at their own will into and out of a small cat-fenced area behind my house. The door works great, installation instructions were fairly straight fwd (there is a page here which helps you figure out the plywood installation as well), customer service was quick and friendly, pricing was fair for the quality of the door, and the sizing was spot on. The small door works great for cats (I do not have any wide load obese kitties, but I do have a few tall, thin ones, and they fit through just fine). The door is well designed, the magnets hold it closed enough for weather, but not enough to deter the cats once they figured out how to push it open. They were easy to train, taking only a few days to get the picture that they could enter and exit as they pleased. The flap is also flexible, and does make it easier for the cats to push on it, as well as peace of mind for me, knowing it will be hard for them to get injured by pulling back and getting caught. The only change I would have made might be to try a double flap next time, as there is a small amount of airspace at the bottom of the flap in the corners--so there is a bit of air exchange, which negates the hope I had for this to be a 'winter' door as well, since for us it opens directly to the outside, not to a garage or other insulated space. BTW, it also came with all hardware, very good instructions, and some extras, like treats for training (dogs), and some wipe on plastic protectant/sunscreen for the flap. Overall, I was very pleased with this purchase, and also with this company and my experience with them. I would look them up again for any more pet doors in the future. Fall 2013

A bitch to install on a metal insulated exterior door with a design but a great purchase. The best investment ever as far as my doggie is concerned. Couldn't investment in something better for my dog then this doggie door. I installed it on my rear door in my garage I just have to open the inside door to the house and she goes through that door which by the way she took 10 minutes to figure out, and she's in the backyard and into her doggie toilet. I highly recommend that door and with those big magnets it stays shut and does not flap with the wind when the garage door is open and the wind blows through the garage.

We live in Portland and installed this on the storm door that gets hit directly from the rain, and it seals great.

We bought this for three cats. The two large males use it regularly without problem, however the more timid (and smaller) female finds it hard to open. It does take a little force to push the flap open due to the magnet on the bottom.

Probably the best door I've ever installed. The flap hinge system has to be the most intelligent design on the market. I've had the endura flap pet door installed in my new home for about 3 months now and think it is a great product. I was recently in a rental home that had one of the cheap pet doors from the big box store, and the difference is night and day. 100+ degree heat and high winds have not seeped through the endura flap! Sure, it is a bit louder than the cheap doors, but I actually like the noise since I am able to tell when the dog goes in and out.

My son in law put this pet door into the back door to the deck. It took him less than an hour and it is perfect! I asked him to remove one of the magnets on the bottom, so it would be easy for my small 10 pound dog to get through (as per a recommendation on one of the reviews). The door still closes tight and is easy for the little one to get in and out. The wind has not blown it open, either. I had also read the reviews on the noise made by the door when dogs went thru it. The pet door I had before this one was inserted into a window, and it made the same sound. This is a quality pet door and I highly recommend it. Pet doors are wonderful, if you have a secure back yard. My dog goes in and out all day long, enjoying the sunshine. No more mistakes in the house, either. So worth it.

    5 5 Great door

I looked for a long time searching for a door that wouldn't leak air, could handle a stiff wind and that our cats could use. I bought the single flap model with flap dimensions of 8x15.

I was initially concerned because of small gaps at the sides near the bottom but a while after it was installed the gaps closed up. Perhaps it took a set during storage. Our cats eventually got accustomed to the greater effort needed to open it and are quite happy with it now. It is directly exposed to the weather and faces west and has proven to be very wind and weather resistant.

The flap is a 2-layer design with an air space between so even the single-flap model insulates very well. Ours is installed in a basement wall and we live in upstate NY.

Some people say that these doors are noisy. None of us seem to mind. In fact, I like being able to hear Bumper coming through the door. That way, I can hide his bone. The door seals well too. I can lay down by it and not get cold because it doesn't leak. Bumper likes it. He can bump his big 'ol head into it. I like pushing it open with my nose but that's because I'm dainty. Anyway, if you are considering getting a good dog door, get this one. It's the only one to have!

    5 5 Outstanding Pet Door

Been a month since we replaced the old pet door with the X-tra large Endura Flap model....... WOW!

Our backyard is next to a field, so it's always windy here..... we had a cold snap last week, cold front brought sustained winds of 40 mph with gusts over 50 and that flap never moved! We are IMPRESSED, this is a superior product and worth every penny!

We have 2 busy German Shepherds, 80 & 106 lbs respectively, that door gets a workout especially when the larger male goes out, he constantly careens into the frame in his rush and not a single dent so far.....

Yes, the door IS loud, (the magnets are very strong) but as it keeps closed in 50 mph + winds and seals so tightly that I'm no longer paying to heat/cool the great outdoors, I can easily put up with the noise..... it's DEFINITELY music to my wallet, that for sure!

Thanks again for such a well designed, sturdy door.

This is my first dog door but after reviewing many on the internet and also checking out versions of my neighbors, this one is surprisingly tight. It's very expensive and the company does not offer any coupons or savings that I have come across. We have a 12" tall Jack Russell who is used to it after 2 days. This install was simple. I have 2 concerns:
    1) the inside flap does not appear to have very strong magnetic pull on the sides, creating small gaps near the top. I may be able to rectify this by adding magnets (according to the company) but this is not considering it gets to be -25 degrees at night for 2 weeks during the winters. The outside flap is really tight.
    2) Since there is some dead space between the cut and the dog door frame I wonder if I should have/can pack insulation in between these spaces to improve heat loss.

Overall appears to be a well designed and efficient on the market that I can tell.

ed. note. please call our customer service re: gaps in the inside flap seal. We can fix that.

    5 4 A good product

The door was easy to install and I have been quite satisfied with it overall. My little Chihuahua isn't strong enough to get the door to open, the magnets are too strong, so he has to wait for one of my other dogs and follow them through the door. However, for the most part I am far more satisfied with this doggie door than any other brand I have tried, and I have had two other doggie doors previous to this one. I hope this will be my last.

  • *****SUPER SATISFIED CUSTOMER ***** review by "Picky poodle chick"

After taking on a fourth dog, I decided it was time to install a pet door to try and simplify my life. I had no idea what all was involved when choosing a dog door. I went to our local Pet-Co and Pet-Smart stores to try and find out what my options would be. Both stores sold the "PetSafe" pet door, and I was assured by managers (at both of these stores) that they were top of the line products when it came to dog doors. After purchasing a brand new patio door ($430) to accommodate installing the PetSafe dog door, I was devastated with my purchase of this flimsy product. I live in Corpus Christi, Texas, and we have wind gusts in excess of 35 mph, and our summer heat can often be brutal with lots and lots of mosquitoes. Our electric bills are extremely high during the summer months and this poorly designed pet door would NOT close and left a gaping hole in our home! This was NOT acceptable to my husband (who was totally against a pet door to begin with!) After weeks of researching for the best pet doors on the market, I decided to go with the Endura Flap Pet Door. I had to purchase ANOTHER exterior door for my home because the dimensions were not the same size for the Endura Flap Pet Door. It was a very costly mistake, and I hope by writing this review, I can prevent others from doing the same. We installed our new door today, and I cannot believe the difference in quality. The Endura Flap Door was definitely worth the extra cost, and I would highly recommend it to anyone! We had a front blow through last night and the north wind has been blowing hard all day. The flap on this Endura Flap Door is solid and hasn't been affected at all by the wind. My husband insisted we go with the double flap because of the added insulation. I was a little concerned that my 3 1/2 pound teacup poodle would not be able to open it. I also have a 5 1/2 pound toy and (2) 11 pound toy poodles, and they all four have mastered the double flaps in just one day! I am extremely happy with the purchase of this product and just wanted to share my story with anyone else who might be struggling with the dilemma over what brand of dog door to buy. ENDURA FLAP ROCKS! Thanks to the super nice ladies (at Patio Pacific) who assisted me in making this difficult decision. <3

  • Excellent Door! review by Scout's Owner
    5 5 Excellent Door!

After using another door from a local retailer, which did not seal well and broke after less than 6 months of use, we found the Endura Flap. Wow! No more drafts, looks great and fairly easy to install. Our dog (54 lb Golden Retriever/Poodle mix) uses it without any problems. The single flap door is ideal for our climate in the Salt Lake City area.
I would recommend this door to any dog owner. The quality is definitely worth the price.

5 3 Dog is too tough for the normal dog to open

The door is great as far as nice tight fit. No air comes through. But I own a rescue and have 6 of my own. The real large dogs even struggle to go through. If I didnt pay someone to install and cut alot of my door off. As the size different. This replaced a real cheap petsafe one. But if I could would go back to that. As I wake up to pee and poop as 3 of my dogs cant get push it open on the morning. Unless I wake up early. Pretty disappointed

We looked at a lot of doors online. Read a lot of reviews. This one came highly recommended. The recommendations were spot on. This is a solid door and the installation was a breeze. (But I'm also a very hand person so I'm not sure how a less skilled individual would do.)
Our dogs had never used a dog door before but we had them trained in less than a week.

    5 4 Good door

So I made an effort to buy the best dog door possible. I didnt care about price, i just wanted something that would last long and work well in a very cold and windy climate. This door does that very well. No draft whatsoever. High quality, i have had it a year and it still works like new. My one complaint. It is very loud. Like i mean way too loud. Everytime my dog comes in or out, it is a disturbance. If she goes out at night, it wakes me up. I rent out the upstairs of my house and the tenants have complained about the noise it makes. The magnets are surrounded by moving plastic that snaps together when it closes and its unbelievable how loud it is. If you live in a big house this might not be an issue. Since my house is small its a huge disturbance and if I could I would go back in time and buy one that is more quiet.

ed. note. No question this is an issue for some. We're working on a solution. In the meantime, we've had reports of good success with a thickness or two of duct tape along the threshold to dampen the contact between it and the bottom of the flap.

    5 5 Great Choice

We live in Northern Nevada. The winds can get as high as 70-100 miles per hour. This large dog (for a giant malamute, 135 lbs) door has stood up to those winds and has kept the cold out this winter. We were concerned about the cat (medium size) being able to get in and out of it, but she has no problem, even without adjustments to the magnets.
We did listen to the purchaser who suggested removing the door to install the dog door. This was installation in an insulated metal exterior door.
Highly recommend the Patio Pacific Endura Flap pet door.

    5 5 Quality

After 6 years w/ a typical big box store PetSafe dog door, I upgraded and am very satisfied that I finally took the plunge. Yes, it is pricey, but it is a quality door backed by an uncommon warranty that I doubt I'll ever need to exercise. My 90-lb. german shepherd took only a couple of passes to master the more securely closing magnetic latch and the taller, more narrow opening and is back to her more typical coming and going as she pleases. I, too, have grown accustomed to the louder clicking noise made by the magnet closure and am very satisfied w/ this quality product.

This is the best dog door we have ever purchased. And we have gone through a lot of dog doors in the past. We have always had 8-10 dogs at a time for the past 20 years. Right now we have 10 dogs. We have used different brands of dog doors though out the years. And this one is the best! The past doors Of different brands that we had have, we would have to close them on very cold, windy days. Having a pack a dog with everyone wanting to go out at different times is very time consuming and a pain! With the Endura flap door, there are no air leaks. We haven't had to close the door all winter(except a night, of course) We love this door!
    Thank you!

I have only positive things to say about this dog door. We live behind a field and it can get a bit windy here. The flap on the lower quality door we had would blow open all the time. • We LOVE our freedom! review by Sonny & Rocco
5 5 We LOVE our freedom!

Our mom bought a large double-flap Endura door when we were just 2 months old. We are standard poodles (no, we don't have sissy haircuts). Yesterday was our 5 month birthday, and at 45 lbs each (it's all muscle!), we like to PROPEL ourselves through the door. We raise our large paws (we're both northpaws -- no southpaws here), and give the FLAP a big SLAP, and we're on our way. It took me (Rocco), only a couple of days to learn to use the door. Mom splurged and gave us BACON when we would come through door. Mmmmm, bacon. At first, she held the flaps up for us and let them drag over our backs as we went through so we wouldn't be scared. Eventually, she let the flaps "slam" behind us, so we got used to the sound (she still hasn't gotten use to the loud sound and jumps when we come in -- we laugh when she's not looking!) I learned fast, but Sonny is a bit slow. I have the brains and he's the cute one. I tried to help him but, mom thought I was being mean when I would come in and he was left sitting outside. I would stick my head out to the other side to get him to come in, but mom thought I was teasing him. Well, I didn't want to get in trouble, so I proved I was helping by going completely out and back in several times when Sonny finally got the hint and followed me in. Sonny understood me better than mom (and I didn't have to give him bacon). One night, Sonny and I tried to go out and nothing happened. There was something blocking the flaps! We couldn't understand why those flaps wouldn't open when we slapped it with our paws (WOOF!). Well, mom just wanted us to stay in during the night, but we couldn't see what was blocking the flaps, so she put the "baby gate" in front of the flaps. We know what the baby gate means – it means we can’t go through it and that’s OK with us. We love our special door and hope it lasts 100 dog years!

    5 5 Very Satisfied

We hesitated for a while because of the cost of the Endura flap, which included significant cross-border shopping fees. In the end, we simply could not find a product in Canada that seemed as well-designed as the Endura Flap. We live in a cold and windy climate and need a 4-season door.

The door has now been in use for 3 months (Nov - Feb), including several days that hit -30C. On those days, we could not feel any draft or cold when we held our hand a few inches from the door. In short, the door has far exceeded our expectations. It is a great product, and well worth the investment.

  • Great Product review by Springers
    5 5 Great Product

I had the wall version at my prior house and currently have the double flap door version at my current home (for 3 years now). We have winter in Ohio and my two Springer Spaniels are very active and go in-out dozens of times per day. This door is wonderful - long lasting, keeps the weather out, has a strong magnet. It can be a little tricky teaching your dog to use the door (especially the tunnel on the wall version) but my older dog has "taught" 5 other dogs to use these doors as friends have seen mine and made purchases. If this is your first dog door, I suggest lots of treats, patience, and possibly removing the magnets for a day or two but they will learn quickly if you show them a few times and then just go outside and do something for an hour or so they will have incentive to get out to you.

  • Great product but doesn't last forever review by David Swingle
5 4 Great product but doesn't last forever

I have been very happy with the Endura flap door performance purchased three years ago, until now. The flap material has become hard due to Missouri winters and the "bellows" section on one side is no longer flexible which now leaves a 1/4" gap on one side. Just ordered a replacement flap for 50 bucks with shipping. The warranty does not provide for advance replacement and being doorless for a week or two is not a workable solution for me.

ed. note Our warranty program now offers a 'loaner' flap. The customer pays the shipping cost for the flap--typically very low--and makes a refundable deposit for the loaner. This program avoids the problem of being door-less while the repair / replace warranty is being accomplished.

5 5 Patio Pacific Endura Flap Pet Door is Well Worth the Money!!

I've had the large size Patio Pacific Endura Flap Pet Door for four years in the Arizona heat. The door still works perfectly, no warpage, no cracks. The single flap door works well to keep out the hot desert heat in the summer and the magnets keep the door closed even during monsoon storms. It always makes a good tight seal when it shuts. The door is a little noisy when it flaps closed because the strong magnets grab the bottom plate on the second pass. After a couple of days we were accustomed to the sound and don't even notice it anymore.. I would certainly purchase this door again if I ever move to a new house.

5 5 Expensive, but worth it. That defines Value.

It's been a month or so since we ordered the large pet with 3 locking covers. I was tasked to find a dog door to accommodate Rottweiler/German Shepherd size dogs and two small cats leading to our video production studio and editing suites. Research was a pain, but finally I was fortunate to come across a great customer rep here at AFPD. She's was both patient and an expert with clueless customers like me.

The dogs enjoyed the enclosed treats!
Some notes. Since two flaps seemed overkill, I only installed one flap, saving the other for a spare. The reason for the double flap model was so we could put locking covers on the inside and out. Our small cats weren't as strong as the magnets, so I removed all but one magnet and even slid it far to one side. That worked.

This was installed in a heavy steel door with a foam core by a carpenter we hired. He suggested a video be made showing how everything goes together. We heartily agree since we produce videos. Ha.

Anyway, this is a very high quality door and well worth money. I gasped when first quoted the cost, but common sense prevailed and I went for a long lasting, quality product. Amortized over the many years this dog door will last, the cost is a bargain.

Our circle of friends are all critter lovers and now know of Patio Pacific.

  • Endura Flap the absolute best! review by Carol in Texas
5 5 Endura Flap the absolute best!

This is my first ever review of any product, but I want others to know the Endura Flap is FAR SUPERIOR to other pet doors. I have used 3 other brands previously. The flaps all warp and let a lot of air through. I bought the single flap Endura Flap and it closes tightly with magnets all around the frame. It took one of my dogs a few days to learn to push the bottom of the flap rather than the middle of the flap to get it to open enough for him to get through.

With Endura Flap my electric bill is lower because the AC runs less. With the tight fitting doggie door I don't have to dust as often and it keeps bugs, lizards, and other creepy critters outdoors.

  • Very Satisfied! review by Eric
    5 5 Very Satisfied!

I bought 2 of the Endura Flap #8 single flap doors and am very pleased with the quality of the doors. The Endura Flap door puts all others in pet stores and home improvement stores to shame. It has a very sturdy metal frame and has magnets the length of the two sides and across the bottom which can be adjusted for strength. The construction of the sides of the flap has baffles so that when the magnets on the door flap align with those on the frame, they stretch out to meet those on the frame for a perfect air tight fit. The top of the flap is hinged unlike others meaning the top of the flap isn't going to wear or crack anytime soon. The flap itself is flexible and has double wall construction with air space in between similar to double pane insulated glass. The flap carries a 15 year warranty. No other company backs their product like this one. I'm in TX and wanted a door that wouldn't allow transfer of hot air outside to air conditioned air inside. Like I said, I got the single flap door and feel it insulates just fine. I can't imagine anyone needing a double flap door unless you're in Sibera or somewhere similar!

The complaints in reviews I read centered around the problem of trying to line up the frame and screws when installing the door. I have the ones that install into people doors and the secret for easy installation is to take the door off the hinges when installing. I laid the door down with pressure from below on the outer frame and lined up the inner frame with the flap and shined a flashlight from below. This made it very easy to complete the installation with minimum effort.

I'm very pleased with this door. If you want a really great door that's going to last a long time and provide a good air tight seal, this is the one to buy! My dogs love them too!

    5 5 Excellent Dog Door

We have been using an insert in our sliding glass door for the last tens years and decided to install in a regular door. After much searching and review reading we went with Patio Pacific Endura Flap. It already has proved it is worth the money. It is a quality constructed door and very nice looking installed. We have very high winds in our area and the old door would flap open and closed continually. The Endura Flap didn't move in the last storm. The insulation in the single door is also superb and sufficient for a Northern Nevada winter. I would highly recommend this dog door.

  • worth every penny review by multidog house
    5 5 worth every penny

We bought one of these (rather pricey) dog doors after getting sick and tired of replacing the flaps for the other pet doors. We'd spend a few hundred dollars a year on replacement flaps, no joke.
We have 4 dogs that enjoy racing in and out of the house through their doggie door. Two are large dogs, two are mediums. Because the dog door goes to the north, through a wall, we actually installed two of these doors, with a doghouse tunnel in between. Our dogs got used to the new doors right away, and even the puppy learned to operate them, although they are less floppy than the other kind.
The other doors would get blown open, freeze open, and the U-shaped flap would forever rip out. The magnets were mostly decorative.
We have had the Endura doors for almost two years now, and they stood up to a puppy growing up, the dogs piling through, and the worst weather, all without trouble.
Truthfully, they were a bit tricky to install, especially the first one, but worth it, absolutely. They close well, the insulation is noticeable and so far neither wind nor ice nor ultra-low or high temps have made an impact. If you get a dog door, spend the extra money and get one of these.

    5 5 Worth every penny

Like most people, I rarely write a review unless it is to complain and warn people not to buy something that's crap, but I'm so happy I bought one of these doors I wanted to share my experience. I tried 2 other doors before I found this one. I had problems with the wind blowing them open. They weren't even close to satisfactory. I tried different ways of blocking the wind and getting the flaps to stay shut. Huge waste of time. I wish I had bought this door to start with. As soon as I took it out of the box I knew I made the right decision. It is obviously very good quality and solid. I got the single flap and find it to close very securely. I thought I might be borderline for needing the dual, but single is just fine...without even adding the optional extra magnets. The other doors I tried were Medium size, so I just got the medium for this one, too. I should have paid more attention to the info on choosing the size because I think I might have been able to use the small one, due to the high profile shape. The price may seem a little hard to take, but when you see what you get, I feel like I got a great value for my money.... Especially after messing with the other doors I tried first. If I ever have a need to buy another pet door, I will just get one of these. No need to shop around. It sure is satisfying to fork out the money and end up with something that actually works like they say it will.

I just wanted to write and say "Thank you" - I ordered your pet door and it arrived in a timely manner. It was installed in less than an hour and our four dogs are happily using it. The door is made with quality materials and was exactly what your web site said it was. I have been and will be recommending your product to every pet owner I know and meet.

5 5 thanks for an energy efficient dog door for the north woods.

What a wonderful product. I just installed a #12, double door where I had
previous Johnson Pet Door. What a difference. The instructions were
fairly clear and pretty basic to do. I cut the hole with the Sawzall and voila, I put it in.

It works well and the weathertightness is great with the temp only 25 degrees today.

My german shepherd has it figured out but the springer is a bit reluctant to use it yet but I am sure she will get it also.

It is a bit pricey but well thought out and I really don't mind the dollars if the performance is there.

thanks for an energy efficient dog door for the north woods.

Endura Flap™ Door Mount

Congratulations on your purchase of one of the finest pet doors made, featuring the exclusive Endura Flap™.

Installation Instructions For Single and Double Flap Models

For single flap door mounts

1 flap frame 1 trim frame

4x 1-3/4 inch screws 4x 2-1/4 inch screws

For double flap door mounts

2 flap frames 4 tunnel pieces 1 tube of silicone

4x 2-1/4 inch screws 4x 2-3/4 inch screws

For both single and double flap door mounts:

1 installation template 8 hole plugs

2 weather-strips 1 warranty card

Drill with

3/8 inch drill bit

Jigsaw or reciprocating saw

Phillips head screwdriver

Please read instructions thoroughly before beginning installation.

1. Tape the provided template to the door. The top edge of the cut-out line should be 1-1/4 inch (or more) above the dog’s withers (shoulders) for the single flap door mount, and 2 inches for the double flap door mount. Be careful not to unduly reduce the strength of the door by cutting too close to the bottom of the door.

2. Mark the hole centers for the four holes and remove the template.

3. Drill the four 3/8 inch holes. Note Drill bit needs to be long enough to go through the interior and exterior of the door. It should be both level and straight when making the holes to ensure the two frames will align properly.

4. Draw lines to connect the outsides of the holes using a straight edge as shown on the template.

5. Cut along the line as shown in Figure 3.

Note Jigsaw needs to be level and straight when cutting the lines to ensure the two frames will align properly.

6. Install the weather-stripping into the groove on both frames with the start /end gap at the bottom.

7. If a single flap door mount, place the pet door trim frame on the outside of the door and the flap frame on the inside and skip to Step 14.

8. If a double flap door mount, assemble the four-piece tunnel by first bending the screw tabs down as shown in Figure 4 in the top and bottom tunnel pieces (the two identical shorter pieces). Note Only bend the tabs once, bending more than once may result in the tabs breaking off.

Figure 5: Remove the four flap assembly screws

9. Remove the screws in the four corners of the flap frame assembly as shown in Figure 5.

10. Place the top piece on, with the bent tabs down and align the top piece so the holes in the tabs lines up with the screw holes in the flap frame and screw in as shown in Figure 6. Repeat for the bottom piece.

11. Slide in the tunnel side pieces as shown in Figure 7.

12. Bend the tabs down with your thumb or a screwdriver handle.

13. Place the flap frame with the tunnel attached on the inside and the other flap frame outside.

14. Select the 2-1/4 inch set of screws for 1-3 /4 inch doors and the shorter set for 1-3/8 inch doors. Insert these into the pet door from the inside. For doors with a thickness of less than

1-3/8 inch, see special instructions. For doors between 1-3/4 inch and 2-1/4 inch with the double flap door mount, use the 2-3 /4 inch screws.

15. Start all four screws as shown in Figure 8, but do not tighten.

16. Before tightening down the screws, check that the pet door is level and adjust as needed.
