Gun Dog House Door Company

This offers two types of closing covers for their three pet door models:

A traditional closing cover in two sizes.

The smaller of the two sizes fits the original Gun Dog House Door and the "Easy" Dog Door. The larger size accommodates the Gun Dog Big Dog door and the Gun Dog "Easy Big" Dog door.

None of these closing covers lock. If you need the cover to lock for security, the best way is to drill a hole through the frame and cover and insert a wooden dowel or steel bolt.

These closing covers always mount on the side of the door or wall opposite the pet door using the tracks provided. They will not fit over the pet door.

Worked out to lock my dogs in during the night....and to keep unwanted critters out.

  • Very Durable review by Gary S
    5 5 Very Durable

These were pretty easy to install and use with our Gun Dog Easy Dog Door. The closing panel itself is very durable and looks like it will last a good while. Goodbye to unwanted critters at night!

  • Good for any door review by Bob
5 4 Good for any door

It says this is specific to Gun Dog, but you can actually make it work with any door. If your frame sticks out then you do have to use a shim or something to that it fits over it but it still works.

  • Excellent addition to the kennel review by Latlind Kennels
5 5 Excellent addition to the kennel

We installed these on the interior as a night time containment and extra climate control. They installed very easily, and are a great compliment to our magnadoors. Great product, at a great price. the sliding tracts are very well made, and the door material is flexible and will not crack in cold weather, as some "plexiglass" materials will. I do need to pull them completely up to the top edge of the opening, to prevent one of my dogs from chewing on them, but a minor issue.

It doesn't come with a lock, but you can drill a hole through the panel and insert a pin lock.

Any door with a flap opening up to a max of 14"w x 20"h.

Pet doors with an maximum opening of 18"w x 28"h.

No, as long as you making sure that the dimensions of the pet door you are trying to cover fall under the maximum opening sizes it should work.

Closing panels by gundog doors are very durable, and that is why we recommend it being used for kennels.

Since it does require some drilling as long as you are fairly handy you should be able to DIY through a door. However, in any wall installation you want to be super careful not to drill into any wiring, plumbing, or framing.

You can paint the panel, but off the shelf it would be white.

You can do either, but without a pet door when it's open it will not offer any insulation value.

This would only be the 2 side channels, so if you wanted to make a stopper a the bottom you could put in a small screw or dowel right below the bottom of the slide. This would act as a stop so the bottom of the panel would rest on that when in place.

Yes, but we would suggest that you go with the Gun Dog Guillotine Door, as that has the longer channels.

You can really use this closing door panel with any pet door as long as the dimension are good and you have a way to mount the side channels on your current frame.

Yes, as long as the opening is no larger than 18"w by 28"h it will fit over it. The only trick is that you do have to mount the channels to the frame on your current door, which could be tricky if you aren't handy.
