These magnets slide on hard but do the job. They do attract chewing for some reason.

  • Wrong product review by Bob
    5 3 Wrong product

The magnetic strip shown is the wrong size for my patio door and I had to call to order the correct magnet. This after spending $29.00 for the wrong magnet. If you have a round logo on your flap, this magnet and bar may not fit.

My aussie pup thought this door was an awesome chew toy just like everything else. I got the new replacement magnets along with some good advice as to coat these with Vaseline and a little hot peppers. They are not so tasty now!! We have had a terrible winter this year and I am so glad we invested in this door!

  • hard to install review by boxer mom
    5 3 hard to install

Found the replacement really difficult to slide onto the door flap. In fact I could not get the strip with the magnet all the way up. Had to cut off part of the magnet to slide strip to the top of the door.

Also my boxer has found the strip good to chew. I now stray the strips every day with "Bitter Apple" spray. This has helped.

  • great products but shipping costs prohibitive review by VMH
5 3 great products but shipping costs prohibitive

(ed. note: Published Jan 1, 2014)

I love being able to order parts for my endura pet door but the magnetic strips came in an envelope that certainly couldn't have cost more than $3.00 to ship but the lowest cost to get them was nearly $15. I would love to shop more for other products however the shipping options need to be reevaluated for realistic and competitive rates, the shipping of this item was almost as much as the item itself!

  • Magnets Slide Down review by Ridgeback Mom
    5 4 Magnets Slide Down

(ed. note: Published Nov 19, 2013)

OK....I discovered that when my dog uses the door excessively that the magnets slide down which causes the flap to stick not allowing access to the inside or outside. My dog proceeds to chew the magnet so that the flap will work again. I know this sounds strange, but I have actually watched this happen. I am ordering another replacement flap and magnets, but this time I am going to use a little silicone glue on the magnets and hope they don't slide down.

  • parts okay, but need better method of securing to door review by NSKR
5 2 parts okay, but need better method of securing to door

(ed. note: Published Jul 2, 2013)

My dogs don't chew on anything --- except these magnets and wrap strips. Pet Doors does not know why dogs attack these and doesn't know the effects of ingestion. I expect a manufacturer of pet components should be able to advise on this, which is a big disappointment in Pet Doors.

Wish they would put a bad taste in the plastic component (wrap) and know the effects of ingestion..

Installation Instructions for Replacing the Endura Flap Wrap Strip and Magnets

 Tools required

  • White marking tool (pen, whiteout)

  • Pliers

Orienting the magnets

The north facing side of the new magnetic strips must be the same as the old magnetic strips. To ensure that the magnets are the same direction:

1. Open the kit and obtain the magnetic strips and plastic wrap strips.

2. Pull the pet door flap away from the frame.

3. Test the magnetic strips by sticking them onto the magnets located on the sides of the pet door flap. Mark the side of the magnet that sticks to the flap with a white marker

4. Insert the magnetic strips into the plastic wrap, making sure that the white marks on the magnets align with the slotted side of the plastic wrap strips.

Inserting the wrap strips

1. Using pliers, pull the old plastic wrap strips off the flap starting from the top or bottom.

2. Insert the tab located along the side of the flap into the slot of the wrap strips and press hard to snap into place.

3. Test the magnets by closing the flap. The new wrap strips should stick to the frame. If they do not stick correctly, the magnets are likely not facing the correct direction. Remove the plastic wrap strips and re-orient the magnets.

No, these are specifically made for the Endura Flap brand and will not work with any other manufacturers flap.

They can be fairly difficult to get back on, but here is a video to help you

That you can do since you just have to be able to get to the sides of the flap.

That depends. If there is damage to the side of the flap then these will not stay on securely so we suggest that you purchase a new flap.

It includes enough to replace both sides on one flap. If you have a double flap door then make sure to order a quantity of two for both doors.

No, this would just be the magnets and cover strip. For additional magnet kits you can go here.

You can, but since they are tough to reinstall we suggest that you remove the frame magnets and here is a video.

If you measure the length of the flap, then check out the size chart in the second column (flap dimension) it will be the one that most closly matches what you have.

They are sold as a kit so it would be enough for both sides of one flap.

No, they only come in grey.

In most cases you will need to replace the entire flap. The channel that the wrap strips slide on are very precise and any damage can make it very difficult for them to install them again.
