Pet Door for Glass Door Installation Kit
This kit simplifies the installation of a SureFlap Microchip Cat Door in plate glass, tempered glass that was cut-out prior to tempering or any thin material that cannot be cut with a rectangular hole for mounting the SureFlap directly.
For example, a glass shop could replace an existing window with a new glass that had a circular hole cut prior to tempering. The SureFlap is then mounted in this circular hole using the Mounting Adapter. This is feasible with both single pane glass and insulated glass units. Consult your local glass shop for more information.
Note that installation in-screen is not possible due to the exposure of the SureFlap unit to the weather.
This is the first electronic cat door that doesn't require your cat to wear a collar key. How do they do that? This is the first electronic cat flap in North America that will sense the microchip that you have had your vet implant in your cat. How cool is that?
Haven't had your cat microchipped? You should get it done. If your cat is ever lost and it does happen, any vet that your pet is brought to will scan for a microchip. If a microchip is found, your cat can be brought home safe and sound. If not, the odds are very slim. Incidentally, if your cat was chipped some time ago, it may have been a 'free-floating' one, in which case, the door may not sense it and you may need to get the cat re-chipped. Newer chips have barbs on them and keep in place.
SureFlap has an RFID disc available that may be used while you're waiting for the vet. Just don't use the two, chip and disc, together or you'll confuse the pet door.

Guarantee - SureFlap™ microchip cat flaps carry a 2-year guarantee from the date of purchase, subject to proof of purchase date. The guarantee is restricted to any fault caused by defective materials, components or manufacture. This guarantee does not apply to products whose defect has been caused by normal wear and tear, misuse, neglect or intentional damage.
In the event of a part failure due to faulty parts or workmanship, the part will be replaced free of charge during the guarantee period only. At the manufacturer's discretion, a replacement product may be provided free of charge in the case of a more serious malfunction. Your statutory rights are not affected.
Disclaimer: The SureFlap™ microchip cat flap incorporates selective entry features which have been designed to minimize the risk of unwanted animals entering your home. However, it is not possible to fully guarantee the exclusion of all other animals in all circumstances.
In the rare event of an unwanted animal gaining access to your home, SureFlap cannot accept liability for any damage or inconvenience which may be incurred.
Warning: The motorized catch and manual lock are provided exclusively to prevent the entry of unwanted animals and is not a security device. SureFlap Ltd cannot accept liability for unintended use and the owner of the product accepts full responsibility for supervising the access in and out of the home that it provides.
In households with children, it is essential to include the cat flap in child-proofing considerations. Misuse of the cat flap by a child may result in the child coming into contact with potential dangers. For this reason, young children should be monitored at all times when in the immediate vicinity of the cat flap.
Caution: Prior to installation, it is the responsibility of the user to consult all building codes which may influence the fitting of the cat flap and assess the suitability of a given installation. The user must also consider potential hazards present inside or outside the cat flap as well as the impact that subsequent modifications to your property may have on the existence and use of your cat flap. It is recommended that these assessments are conducted in consultation with a construction professional.
Do not install SureFlap™ in a fire door as it will render the fire door unfit for purpose.
SureFlap is compatible with the following commonly used microchips in North America:
- All 15 - digit (FDXB)
- All 10 - digit (FDXA) except those with codes starting 000..., 010..., or 020...
- All 9 - digit (Avid Secure/Encrypted Chip)
Check with your vet if you have a question about the type of microchip you are using. The programming process is extremely simple. Your cat walks through, the door senses the microchip and remembers it. You may have up to 32 cats programmed simultaneously.
In addition to this unique microchip sensing design, the SureFlap incorporates the familiar 4-way locking device for even more control over the movements of your cat.
As the SureFlap is battery powered (4 AA batteries last about 6 months depending upon usage), a nearby wall outlet is not required. A low battery indicator lets you know when to change the batteries.
The SureFlap is self-framing from 0" to 2 3/4" which will accommodate very thin material like plate glass to very thick exterior doors.
For Wall Installation just purchase enough SureFlap Tunnel Extensions (each one is good for 2" of wall depth) to get most of the way through the wall. The SureFlap itself will accommodate the last 0"-2 3/4".
Installation in glass requires the use of a SureFlap Mounting Adaptor. The use of a glazier is imperative for 'in glass' installations.
If for some reason, you don't wish to use the electronic control, say during training, you may disable the sensing mechanism and use the SureFlap as a regular manual cat flap.
If you feel that the locking feature should act more quickly, no problem. There is a special high-speed locking mode that you can activate if needed.
And, if you have a really big cat that can't get close enough to trigger the chip reader, there's an extended range option:
1. Remove 1 battery from the SureFlap and leave for 2 minutes to power completely down.
2. Press & Hold the learn button.
3. While continuing to hold down the button, reinsert the battery.
4. Release the learn button.
One last caution If you want to install this cat flap in a metal door, you'll need to build a wooden collar to keep the cat flap separate from the metal. The installation instructions explain how to do that and how wide the collar needs to be.
