"Smart Pet" (formerly "Carlson")
Dog Doors -
The SmartPet pet doors were
originally named the "Carlson Pet Door". The story is that
the president of Carlson Products, a manufacturer of walk-in freezer
doors and 'slam' doors (drive the forklift through without bothering
to open the door!), got a dog. He didn't like the pet door
that he found at his local pet shop so he had his company make him
one. After developing the product, it was sold to another company
and re-named the SmartPet Pet Door.
For insulation value it is right up there with the
double-flap-and-dead-air-space- between doors currently available.
The 'self-framing'
adjustment range is 13/8"
- 13/4".
Satin (aluminum) only frame color. A steel dead-bolt built into the
flap engages the frame for security.
The locking mechanism is a keyed lock for
additional security.
The original 'with window' versions have been discontinued in
favor of the new clear Lexan (polycarbonate) window design which
provides a 'see-through' flap instead of the original aluminum flap.
