Do not know which size to get? Here is a measurement guide to help you out.
Track Height Adjustment range is based on the measurement of your sliding door track height from the lowest point of your track to the highest point. Each Endura Flap Thermo Panel 3e has a 3" adjustment range. Review our Track Measuring Guide video for additional, detailed information The following standard adjustment ranges are available:
Short: 74 3/4" – 77 3/4"
Regular: 77 1/4" – 80 1/4"
Tall: 93 1/4" – 96 1/4" (additional cost)
If your measured track height does not fall within one of the ranges above, we can make a custom height! Custom height option may take up to 4 weeks to special order the glass and build the panel.
Please read instructions & notes thoroughly before installation.
Step 1Loosen Height Adjustment Locks
Loosen the height adjustment locks at the top of the pet panel with the screwdriver. This allows the spring mechanism to move freely up and down.
Step 2Test Fit the Panel in Your Track
You want to put the pet door in your track before applying any weather stripping to ensure it fits. If the panel fits well, proceed to the next step. See the Troubleshooting Section if you encounter difficulties.
To insert the panel into the top track, push up against the spring mechanism and swing the bottom of the panel up and over the threshold.
Seat the panel on top of the small guide rail in the track.
If you can't quite get it in the track, try swinging in from the outside as the outside track wall may be shorter.
Step 3Adjust Step-Over Height (Optional)
The Endura aluminum sliding door panel has a patented Adjustable Step-Over feature which allows you to adjust the height of the flap to the most comfortable fit for your pet.
Adjusting the step-over requires tools that are not supplied. You will need a Phillips-head screwdriver, and we recommend using a power tool if available, as the screws were tightly installed to hold the panel together during shipping.
The top of the flap should be positioned to be at least 1” above the top of the pet's shoulder.
If the factory setting is not suitable, please adjust it before proceeding. Otherwise, proceed to the Installation Instructions section.
Step 4Remove the Screws (Optional)
Lay the entire panel on a flat surface.
Using the Phillips-header screwdriver, or selected power tool, remove the bottom side-screws and loosen the upper side screws.
Step 5Adjust the Spacers (Optional)
Once the bottom screws have been removed and the upper side-screws loosened, the Pet Door Assembly and spacers can be removed by sliding the sections down and out of the panel.
Step 6Reconnect the Pieces (Optional)
Replace the spacers and the Pet Door Assembly by sliding them back in a different order to achieve the desired height. You can move the spacer below and above the flap to raise or lower the flap height.
It is critical that the bottom piece is placed at the base. This is the designated attachment point for the screws.
Make sure that the locking cover side of the flap frame is on the same side as the height adjustment locks.
Step 7Retighten the Screws (Optional)
When finished, replace the bottom side-screws and tighten the next upper-side screws.
A lower step-over height is easier for pets to navigate. However, if the top of the flap is low enough that the pet needs to crouch to get through their pet door, they can injure themselves and possibly cause the pet door to malfunction. If your pet door does not sit at a comfortable height for your pet, you may need a larger flap size.
Step 8Apply Weatherstripping
Once you're sure the panel fits, remove it from the frame and lay it on its side on the ground.
For foam weatherstripping: Peel the backing off the foam weatherstripping. Press it along both edges of the panel, trimming as needed with scissors to ensure a snug fit.
For rubber weatherstripping: Clean the edge of your sliding door or window with rubbing alcohol to help the weatherstripping stick properly. Starting at the top or bottom, peel and press the strip into place with the folded edge facing indoors—align angled cuts if you have two pieces. For best results, apply the seal to the sliding door or window, but it can go on the pet door panel if needed.
Foam weatherstripping is applied onto both sides of the panel, but the rubber weather stripping only applies on the side of the slider door. Your panel will come with one type of weather stripping. You do not need both types.
Step 9Install the Draft Stopper
The center post weather seal strip (draft stopper) should be installed on the inside of the home.
It can install on either the back edge of the sliding door panel or the leading edge of the stationary panel.
This strip prevents air from leaking between the sliding glass door and the stationary panel.
Trim with scissors as needed. Clean the edge of your patio door with rubbing alcohol before installing to assure a good seal.
Repeat step two to install the panel in your track.
Step 10Install the Panel
If you haven't already, insert the panel back into your sliding door track the same way you did earlier: pushing up against the spring mechanism and swinging the bottom into place. Push it snug into the side track!
Make sure everything is sitting securely.
Tighten the height adustment locks in the spring mechanism.
And that's it! Your pet door is installed and ready for use. Now, watch your pet strut through their new door like they own the place!
Please read instructions & notes thoroughly before installation.

Step 2Adjust the Spacers (Optional)
Simply slide the pieces up and out from the bottom half of your panel to rearrange.
Loosen a bottom screw if the pieces are too snug to move.
Step 3Reconnect the Pieces (Optional)
Replace the spacers and the Pet Door Assembly by sliding them back in a different order to achieve the desired height.
You can move the spacer below or above the flap to raise or lower the flap height.
Step 4Retighten the Screws (Optional)
It is critical that the bottom piece is placed at the base. This is the designated attachment point for the screws. You can now assemble the patio panel.
Step 5Align the Connectors
Remove the 2 flat head sectional connector screws from the exposed part of the connector on each side.
Align the aluminum connectors extending from the bottom flap panel section with the top glass panel section.
Press the aluminum connectors into the holes at the bottom of the top glass panel section.
Ensure locking cover & height adjustment locks are on the same side.
Step 6Assemble the Panel
Gently tap the bottom surface of the panel against the ground to completely insert the connectors.
Protect hard surfaces to prevent scratching.
The components of the panel are designed to slide together very tightly.
Fasten the two panels together using the four flathead screws.
Use the included flathead screwdriver to tighten all four flathead screws so the two halves of the door are pulled together.
Step 7Loosen Height Adjustment Locks
Loosen the height adjustment locks at the top of the pet panel with the screwdriver. This allows the spring mechanism to move freely up and down.

FAQs
FAQ
Can an intruder remove a dog door for sliding glass doors from the outside?
No, the thumbscrews are on the inside of the panel, so once installed, the Endura Flap Panel cannot be lifted out and removed without first loosening the thumbscrews from inside the home.
Can I install it myself?
It is meant to easily be put in and removed. You just have to loosen the screws at the top, fit it into the track, and then tighten them. Then to remove it you simply loosen them again and pop it out.
Can you lock the pet door?
It comes with a closing cover, and you slide that in on the inside of the house. It is a very secure ABS plastic material that is as strong as a 16 gauge steel.
Do the Endura Flap panels require tools for installation?
All panel sizes will require a flathead screwdriver for the height adjustment locks. Panels that ship in two pieces (sectionals) will need to be assembled with 4 hex screws and a hex wrench, all of which are provided for sectionals. The following panels ship in one piece: Panels under 80 ¼" with a Small, Medium, or Large flap. The following panels ship in two pieces: Panels over 80 ¼" with a Small, Medium, Large, or Extra-Large flap and panels under 80 ¼" with an Extra-Large flap. Shipping a tall and/or wide panel in two pieces saves customers on shipping costs since it can be shipped in a smaller box.
Does it lock?
We do include a c-clamp lock. It is not designed to mate with your existing sliding door lock. You can also use a Charley-Bar or dowel in the track.
Does the Endura Flap dog door sliding door come with locking covers for security?
Yes, these dog doors come with locking covers to ensure safety for your pet and home. Endura Flaps have locking covers that slide over them on the side facing inside your home and are made of sturdy, heavy-duty ABS plastic. Unfortunately, they cannot be used on the outside of Endura Flap Panels as an alternative.
Does this insulate well?
The Endura Flap has superior insulating capabilities! The flap has magnets that seal all the way around, and will stay closed in wind gusts up to 50mph.
Does this insulate well in severe weather?
This door has superior insulating capabilities. The double flaps have magnets that seal all the way around, and will stay closed in wind gusts up to 50mph. The Low-e glass also compliments the insulating value of you new vinyl door. It is our #1 recommendation for extreme climates.
Does this keep mice, rats, and other pests out?
This is a manual door, so there is no guarantee that critters will not get in. However, the Endura Flap has incredibly strong magnets that are hard for small critters to push through and get in.
Does this panel work with vinyl sliders?
Yes, the endura flap 3e is compatible with most vinyl sliding patio doors for a vinyl-pet slider that matches your existing track. At 1" thick, it is thicker than most aluminum panels, so it will fit better in a vinyl track. The track width may not line up exactly with the panel, but it is only an issue with the aesthetics, not functionality.
How do I install this pet door into a slider where the doors meet in the middle?
Installation can work the same way as with standard sliding doors. In order for the panel insert to remain secure and stable, you will need to make one of your sliders stationary. In essence, you will only be allowed to slide and walk through one of your two sliders.
How do I lock my sliding glass door when there is a pet door insert installed?
You can use a Sliding Door Lock https://www.petdoors.com/products/sliding-door-lock or Slide Lock https://www.petdoors.com/products/slidelock
How do I measure my door to get the correct height adjustment size?
Measure from the innermost part of the bottom track to the innermost top part of the track. If there is a pencil railing, include that in the measurement because the panel straddles the railing.
I am looking at the multi dog sized doors for a sliding patio door. What are the differences between a vinyl dog door and an aluminum?
The primary differences between vinyl and aluminum dog doors for sliding patio doors besides the material they are made out ofare in their thickness, energy efficiency, and material compatibility. Vinyl doors are typically 1.5" thick, offer better insulation, and match well with vinyl sliding doors due to their energy-efficient nature and thicker frames. Aluminum doors, on the other hand, are 1" thick, less insulating but highly durable, and they pair well with aluminum sliding doors for a consistent look and maintenance ease. \n \n When choosing between them, we recommend getting the panel that matches your sliding glass door's track material (aluminum with aluminum, or vinyl with vinyl) and will fit into your track's width.
I have a hurricane patio door. Will this pet door work for me?
Hurricane door track styles vary widely, so they are case-by-case. Please reach out to customer service to discuss your pet door options for your sliding door.
If I custom order a short version of the Liberty Pet Door panel, could I install it into my window track?
While it's possible, a more suitable option would be the Liberty Pet Door for Horizontal Sliding Windows, which is already available in standard window sizes.
Is the Endura Flap clear?
It is a little foggy, but it is see through.
Is the flap flexible?
It is flexible, but since it is two pieces sandwiched together it is a little stiffer and heavier than the more economical vinyl flaps.
Is there an electronic version of this panel?
We do hope to offer that option in the future, but right now we are offering only the Endura Flap options.
Is this door good in a cold winter climate? I want something effective in our winter months.
Yes, the Endura Flap has been tested in -40°F. The dual-pane glass provides excellent insulation value.
My sliding door track has a triangular guide rail. Will this pet door still work?
Some sliding glass door tracks have a triangle-shaped guide rail instead of a cylindrical pencil rail running along the middle. This pet door panel has an arch along the bottom that is designed to sit on top of a cylindrical pencil rail. Pencil rails are shorter in height than triangular guide rails, which means that the pet door panel would wobble on top of it rather than sitting flush with the rest of the track. To accommodate the pet door panel you will need to build up the sides of the triangular guide rail so that the tip is less than ¼” tall. Please reach out to customer service if you have any questions about this process.
What are some breeds of dogs these will fit?
Small would be Chihuahuas, Yorkies, and cats. Medium would be good for Corgis, Jack Russell Terriers, and French Bulldogs. Large would fit most Labs, Goldens, and Pit Bulls. Extra Large would be good for most Rottweilers, German Shepherds on the large side, and English Labs.
What do I do if this does not come in size that will fit my door?
The step over is the part of the panel under the actual door opening. Depending on the flap size purchased, the stepover can range from 3"-7". This means that you can adjust it to any stepover within that range. So if you have a puppy, you can keep adjusting it as he/she grows.
What does the recommended pet height mean?
That column is what we recommend be the range of pet height that would be suitable for that particular flap size. So for example if you pet is 20"tall and could fit though a 10" wide opening, then you could go with the large flap.
What if my track is wider than 1-1/2"?
It can still work if your track is wider, but if the channel in the bottom, top, or side measures less than that you will not be able to fit it into place properly.
What is the thickness of the Endura Flap aluminum panel?
The Endura Flap Thermo Panel 3e is 1" thick. It is only thick enough for a single flap, not a double flap.
Will there be enough room for me to get through after the panel is installed?
That depends on how wide your sliding glass door opens and how wide the panel you purchase is. Those dimensions can be found under the "Overall Panel Width" column.
Will this panel work if my sliding glass door has a buried track?
Some sliding glass doors have buried tracks. Since this panel has an arch along the bottom that is designed to sit on top of a pencil rail, it will not be secure in a slider with a buried track without modifications. We recommend securing the panel to the track wall with L brackets or toenailing it to the track wall. Toenailing is the process of fastening the panel to the track by driving a nail at roughly a 45-degree angle into the panel and through the track wall. Please note that these modifications result in a semi-permanent installation. If you needed to remove the panel in the future you would first have to remove the L brackets or nails. Additionally, please note that this process would leave holes in the pet door panel and it would no longer be returnable. Please reach out to customer service to further discuss your options for a buried track.
Will this pet door work with Anderson and Pella sliding doors?
Anderson and Pella sliding glass doors have an inner track wall but no outer track wall. Additionally, the pencil rail is on the outer edge of the track rather than in the middle. Since this pet door panel is designed to sit between two track walls and on top of a centered pencil rail, it cannot be installed in Anderson or Pella doors without modifications. We recommend building out your track and using L brackets or toenailing to secure the bottom of the panel to the inner track wall. Building out the track means adding a piece of wood or vinyl that is the same height as the pencil rail to the space next to the pencil rail. This creates a flat surface for the pet door panel to sit on. Next, you will need to secure the panel to the track wall. To do this, you can use L brackets or you can toenail the panel into the track wall. Please reach out to customer service to further discuss this process or different options for an Anderson or Pella sliding door.
Recently purchased and installed the pet door with dual-plane glass in my sliding door. The small size still works with 20-pound cats. Initial install was easy, although the content varies a bit between the written instructions and the provided YouTube video. Used the included lock to keep pressure on the sliding glass door against the panel insert, but including an expandable rod would have been nice.
As other reviewers described, additional insulation was needed. I purchased some 3/4" closed cell backer rod foam from Home Depot, then pushed it into the gaps between the panel and the sliding door track. The largest gap was between the two pieces of the sliding door glass since the door is now permanently open. This required 1" closed cell backer foam from Amazon. Overnight temperatures are down to 35F and it is holding up well so far.
Removed the magnets from the flap and have started flap training with the cats. Purina has a helpful "Training a Cat to Use a Cat Flap" guide online.
Really high quality, easy installation. Very happy with the purchase. But there’s no excuse for not including an adjustable bar to hold the sliding door in place. Instead, I got an email offering to sell me this necessary item after I received the door. Include it with the door (and adjust the price), or at least promote it as clearly necessary when ordering the door.
Secure locking cover and C-Clamp lock provide additional security and control.
