Hale Pet Doors for Walls (formerly Hale Security Pet Doors for
Walls) include very heavy extruded aluminum framing. The tunnel
is aluminum sheet and includes brown carpet and adhesive to finish
the tunnel. Flaps are fully weather-stripped and use adjustable
magnets to ensure a good seal.
The double flap version is particularly effective
against wind and provides improved insulation. Most of our Hale
sales are for the double flap version for this reason.
We think the single flap version should be limited
to unheated garages or other areas where the high performance of the
double flap style is not required. The single-flap versions place
the flap on the outside frame to help reduce weather coming in.
The locking cover is 3/16"
Lexan (polycarbonate) with a steel dead-bolt to hold it in place.
The locking cover normally installs straight down from above. If
something is in the way (a window sill for example) you may order a
'side load option' at no extra charge (see 'Hale
Other Parts').
A particularly useful feature of all Hale pet
doors is that the magnets may be easily removed using a flat-bladed
screwdriver. This makes training of skittish pets much easier as the
flaps are then extremely easy to push. The magnets may be gradually
re-introduced as the pets become confident in using the door.
All Hale pet doors come standard with "polar"
flaps--a vinyl that is more flexible in cold weather than "regular"
vinyl. Replacement flaps may be ordered here
Hale Pet Door Replacement Flaps and Locking Covers.
Very flexible 'training' flaps may be ordered for
pets who are initially resistant to pushing through the regular
flaps. These may be ordered at "Hale
Replacement Flaps".
The locking cover on a Hale Pet Door (formerly Hale
Security Pet Door) wall mount pet door is
3/16" Lexan (polycarbonate)
with a steel dead-bolt to hold it in place. The locking cover
installs from above so clearance is required. However, you can
special-order a 'side-load' locking cover if needed by selecting the
option above right. No extra charge. A second possibility is to shim
the inside frame inward toward the interior of the house until the
locking cover clears the overhead obstruction.
Self-framing adjustment range is 2"-10". A special version
adjustable 2" to 16" is available if needed which can be ordered at
extra cost by selecting the "other parts" section below.
The side-load option, extended tunnel option and
additional pin-lock for added security may be ordered from the "Hale
Other Parts" page after ordering your pet door.
Choosing a flap size: Here are the
Hale
recommendations. However, we suggest you do your own measuring
as suggested on our "Measure
Your Pet" page prior to making a decision.
