PB&K (Peanut Butter and Kibble) Burrito!
Not everyone can make home cooked dog food from scratch. Instead, you can use the store-bought stuff with other fresher ingredients in any number of healthy dog food recipes! This one can be a fantastic treat for pets, but there are some guidelines you have to follow when making anything with peanut butter.
You need to check the ingredients to make sure that what they contain is safe. There is an ingredient out there called Xylitol (aka Sugar Alcohol) and it is being used as a substitute for sugar, and is used in some foods labeled as sugar-free products. If you find this ingredient on the label, the peanut butter is NOT SAFE .
You can eat it, but it can be very harmful to your dog and cause serious health issues (we are talking call your vet immediately if ingested types of issues) so you should not feed it to your dog. Another thing to keep in mind is that peanut butter contains fats and sugars. So even though it may contain some healthy fats and other nutrients giving it out in large quantities can make the dog gain weight, best to keep it to a minimum and not an everyday thing.
Step One:
Spread a small amount of peanut butter on a flour tortilla, just enough for a light coating. (Hint: use the soft taco size not giant burrito size. For smaller dogs once you make the burrito cut it in half as this portion could be a bit much for them).
Step Two:
Add in some doggie dry kibbles, their favorite doggie biscuits, or any other tasty treat that is appropriate for your pet’s diet.
Step Three:
That’s a wrap! Roll it all together and bam! That’s going to be a happy pooch.
