Number of Flaps:
1 - Single Flap: On inside of wall (same side as locking cover)
2 - Double Flap: One on each side. The included dead-air-space and extra flap add significantly to the already considerable insulation and sealing values.
I have the one that installs in a sliding glass door. It looks like it was made for that spot perfectly. I have had 3 different brand of dog doors and this one is by far the best. The vinyl flap type never lasted with my dogs as they run through it full force. This one lasts way longer and doesn't fly open on windy days. They also have great customer service.
The replacement part was perfect fit and went in without any trouble at all. It's great to be able to replace just the flap and the piece around it rather than the whole door. But replacing just the flap wasn't an option this time because the insulation was all worn out.
I have had this door for over 5 years. It works like new. Seals out wind. When I installed it I saved the warranty info in case I needed replacement flap in the future. I recently came across the papers and looked up the company to see if the door is still around. I am happy to find that it is. It is by far the best door that I have ever purchased. I hope that the company keeps making it because I am sure that it will not last forever and if and when it breaks I will want to replace or repair it with the same door. I purchased it at Home Depot but they no longer carry it and I haven't seen it any place else. I don't understand why it isn't carried by all stores. It is clearly superior to any other door that I have ever seen.
I installed a medium ultraflex brand new about 4 1/2 years ago. It has been a great door until today when I came home and found the flap in two pieces, split at the upper hinge. Maybe the hinges need to be a little heavier duty or of a different material. I would still recommend the door however, especially in colder climates.
I had trouble trying to find something that would fit in my screen room to replace a custom dog door. This door did the think and is a very nice door.
