You would need to remove the old weatherstripping in the channel (it is only secured with sticky tape). Then you can peel off the backing on the new strips and stick them in place. How do I get the old residue off so this sticks properly?

You can use Goof Off or Goo Gone to remove any sticky leftovers from your old door weatherstripping.
