Happy Mardi Gras!

Another year, another huge Mardi Gras celebration! You might be picturing the parades New Orleans streets host (think: colorful beads strewn across trees and buildings!). This year, let's celebrate Mardi Gras for dogs! Did you get the dogs and cats involved in all your festivities?

For Mardi Gras dogs can get all decked out with you! Dressing them up in colorful Mardi Gras outfits, hats and beaded necklaces is the fun part! Do not miss out on a great family event for everyone to enjoy. The entertainment is endless, just look at all the other cute dogs and cats dressed up for the occasion in the video below.

If you didn't this year, be sure to make the most of Mardi Gras and make it a fun family event celebration next year! If you are in Louisiana check out the Krewe Nyx; the biggest Krewe New Orleans has to offer! Enjoy all the creative and colorful Mardi Gras clothes others have come up with, the ideas are truly limitless and, in my personal opinion, quite entertaining!

For a pup-friendly celebration, the Krewe of Barkus puts on a classic New Orleans parade, but with dogs! This pet Krewe is perfect for the animal lover who wants to enjoy Mardi Gras with their four-legged friend. A dog parade is the perfect place to debut your dog's fresh new look. Beads, feathers, you name it! Just make sure you always put your pet's comfort first. a very happy pet krew mardi gras bead dog going to a new orleans parade If you are in the Baton Rouge Area go check out their annual Capital Area Animal Welfare Society (CAAWS) Mystic Krewe of Mutts parade! People enjoy a fun filled and unforgettable day with their dogs “Mardi Gras style” while enjoying activities and parading them in what has become one of Baton Rouge's most beloved family events.

The parade is the largest fund-raiser for CAAWS and raises much needed funds for CAAWS homeless animal care, Community Outreach, Humane Education and Spay/Neuter Programs, and for the CAAWS Shelter to keep adoptable animals safe and comfortable. Dogs are allowed to watch the parade on the sidelines, but it is not as much fun as being in the parade!

Join the only dog friendly Krewe Mardi Gras parade that allows dogs and their families to stroll up and down North Blvd. So gather your friends, dress-up you and your pooch, decorate a pet-sized float, and “party on” for a good CAAWS! Don’t forget to enter the contests for Best Costume, Best Float, and Best Group Theme to win prizes! When is Mardi Gras? Here are the dates for the next four years: 2016- Feb 9th 2017- Feb 28th 2018- Feb 13th 2019- March 5th
