Parts

  • 1 Replacement Flap
  • 3 Retainer Rings
  • 8 Hole Plugs

Tools

  • Magnetic Phillips head #2 screwdriver
  • Flat head screwdriver
  • Drill

Step 1 Remove the Hole Plugs

  • First remove the Endura Flap from the door or wall.
  • To do this, you will need to remove the hole plugs. Don't worry, we sent you some extra ones!
  • You can drill a hole in each plug and wiggle the plug out with a screwdriver to pull them off.

Step 2 Unscrew the Frame

  • Next unscrew the frame and remove the whole assembly from the door/wall.

Step 3 Remove Retainer Ring

  • Now that the assembly that holds the flap is removed from the door/wall, look for a metal rod at the top of the frame that holds the flap.
  • Remove a retainer ring from one end of the flap rod by forcing the ring off with a flathead screwdriver.
  • If you are replacing the inside flap of a Double Flap Wall Mount, you will first need to unscrew the threaded rods and remove the aluminum tunnel to expose the screw heads of the flap rod. To do this, bend the tabs laying flat against the tunnel upwards so that you can detach the side tunnel pieces from the upper tunnel piece.
  • You will need to do the same thing for replacing the inside flap of a Double Flap Door Mount. This is because the tunnel pieces are attached to the interior frame, so they cover up the flap rod. You do not need to complete this step if you are replacing the exterior flap.

Step 4 Remove the Rod

  • Once you have removed a retainer ring from one end of the flap rod, you can push the rod through the flap frame until it comes out on the other side.
  • Pull the rod out and remove the flap.

Step 5 Expand the Bellows

  • Use a blow dryer to lightly heat the sides of the new flap and stretch them out to ensure a better seal.

Step 6 Check the Magnets

  • Before installing your new flap you should check to make sure that the magnets in the flap and the frame are attracting correctly.
  • If they seem to be repelling, you probably need to flip the flap around so they work properly.

Step 7 Position the New Flap

  • Now slide the new flap in place in the frame, and guide the flap rod through the side of the frame, through the flap, and out the other side.

Step 8 Install Retainer Ring

  • Push the new retainer ring on by holding the other side of the rod in place while pushing the ring on using your finger.
  • Each side only needs one ring, and the teeth need to bent facing away from the flap.

Step 9 Re-Install the Pet Door

  • Reinstall the flap and frame into the door or wall.
  • Line the holes up so you can see light through them, then screw the frame into place.
  • Once you’re sure everything is correct, put the new hole plugs in using a rubber mallet (or a hammer and wood).
  • You can refer to Endura Pet Door installation videos in the videos tab to help with this step.

Why is the double flap Endura door 1" shorter than the single flap version?

The single flap and double flap patio pacific replacement flap will be identical, although the space available for the pet to go through changes due to the thickness of the flap. Large Door Thru Stuco Wall in Las Vegas

Ten months ago when our Golden Retriever was eight week old, we purchased the largest model of PetDoor. The installation through a stucco wall was straight forward and the instructions were easy to follow. The included template made cutting the hole easy. Summertime temperatures in Las Vegas are routinely above 112 deg. The magnets that seal the door on the sides and bottom work perfectly, and there is very little loss of the cooler air inside the house. During heavy winds (sometimes 50 mph) the seal holds well and the door does not move. Training the pup to use the door was very easy. We just made a game out of it without the door flap installed. In a couple of days he was traveling back and forth with ease. Now that he is seventy-five pounds and still growing, the large size makes it a breeze to go in/out. The most difficult thing about installing it thru a stucco wall is cutting the stucco. If one in not experienced with cutting stucco, I recommend having a professional do the job. In my case, that wasn't necessary as I have a right-angle grinder and the cut was not difficult. The cut can also be done using a "saws all" with a concrete blade installed. Just follow the line established using the template and the fit will be perfect. I can highly recommend the product.

Why change?

I am not sure why they changed from a metal bottom strip to a plastic, but my plastic cracked almost immediately. I have two, large very active dogs and they have also broken both of the plastic rivets at the top of the flap.
