Installation Instructions

PERMANENT INSTALLATION

Step 1: Place the pet door panel in your sliding glass door track and see if the top, bottom, or both of the adjustment channels are going to be needed for a snug fit.

Step 2: Remove the panel.

Step 3: With the panel outside of the track, take the channels and push them on the pet door panel as far as possible.

Step 4: Now put the panel with the channels back into the slider track. Close the slider against the panel to make sure that there is a stable, firm fit.

Step 5: Extend the adjustment channels evenly, making sure that at least 1 ½” of the channel is casing over the panel at the top and bottom. For stability purposes, you do not want there to be any less than 1 ½”.

Step 6: Next you will need to drill three â…›”, evenly spaced holes into each adjustment channel along the inside of the panel at the top and bottom.

Step 7: Use the #8 ½” screws provided to secure the adjustments to the panel.

Step 8: Next you will have to drill three â…›” holes into both the top and bottom of the slider frame. Insert three more #8 ½” screws through the sliding door frame and into the pet panel.

TEMPORARY INSTALLATION

Step 1: Place the pet door panel in your sliding glass door track to determine whether you need both adjustment channels on the top and bottom.

Step 2: Remove the panel.

Step 3: With the panel outside of the track, take the channels and push them on the pet door panel as far as possible.

Step 4: Place the door back into the track and extend the channels in a manner that will allow them to be easily removed from the track if needed.

Step 5: Use the black rubber bumpers provided on the inside/outside and top/bottom of the pet door panel to ensure a secure and snug fit.

Step 6: If needed, remove the panel and screw them onto the adjustment channels using the small ¼” screws.

How to Measure Your Sliding Glass Door for a Pet Door

FAQ

Can I lock my door?

The manufacturer includes a pin lock that would require drilling a small hole in the frame. If you did not want to drill into the frame then you could use a charley bar

Will I still be able to use the slider?

Yes, however you would want to double check and make sure that you have enough room to go in and out because the panel will take up some space.

Can I take the panel in and out?

You can go with a temporary installation or a more semi-permanent one. Both types are included in the installation instructions.

How do I measure my sliding glass door?

Open up the slider and measure all the way down inside the bottom track then all the way up into the top track.

How thick does my sliding glass door track need to be?

The minimum track width needed is 1/2".

Can I get this with a clear flap?

No, the only flap that they make is the black heavy rubber.

Do they have an Extra Large?

They do make an Extra Large pet door, but not in a patio panel version.

If I get the white panel is the flap still black?

Yes, you can choose a different frame color, but the rubber flap will always be black.

Could two different size pets use this?

That would depend, as the Large might be a little heavy for small cats and toy breeds.

Can you get the door with a lower step over?

The only one would be 4", but you can use a small ramp to decrease that for smaller pets.

Can I lock the pet door?

There is a closure for the dog door, and you can put that on the inside or outside. However, we recommend that it should be used on the same side as the dog, since the flap is black they won't be able to see it if it's on the opposite side and you don't want them to go banging into it.

What is the return policy for the Pride Patio Panel?

This product can be returned within 30 days of you receiving it.

What is the adjustment range for the Pride Patio Panel?

The adjustment range is 78 1/2" - 81".

Weak Barrier plate & loose magnets

The barrier closure door is a very weak particle board material that my dogs have destroyed twice. I really font understand the safety concern associated with using a stronger material. The idea of the customer simply making a replacement out of a stronger material is not well thought out unless the customer owns an assortment of tools. Why not simply add a stronger barrier option if desired. Also, the flap magnets eventually fall out and are easily lost and evidently they are not available as replacement.parts.

Get what you pay for

I wanted a quick fix, and that's what I got. Only problem is the fix didn't last very long! The flap is heavy, but after a couple months starts to fall apart at the top. I also had problems with magnets falling off the flaps. I gave it to my SIL and bought something worthwhile.

Works for screen doors

I was looking for a panel that would fit in a screen door track and all the other panels seemed too thick except for this one. My dog wasn't a fan of the all black flap, but started going through with enough time, training and treats.

Very Dissatisfied with this Doggie Door

My dogs (10 lbs and 40 lbs) get trapped in this 2 flap doggie door. This occurs at least 4 times a week. The dogs don't want to use this doggie door because they get trapped and someone has to help them out. Also, the flap tears and must be replaced at a $80 cost. It is also black (not clear) so the dogs don't know when the door has been closed and they run into the cover. It is a very bad set up with the double flaps and I recommend that you don't purchase this doggie door.
