Does the Endura Flap dog door sliding door come with locking covers for security?

Yes, these dog doors come with locking covers to ensure safety for your pet and home. Endura Flaps have locking covers that slide over them on the side facing inside your home and are made of sturdy, heavy-duty ABS plastic. The cover has the equivalent strength of 16 gauge steel and will reliably prevent intruders or wildlife from entering.

Can an intruder remove a dog door for sliding glass doors from the outside?

No, the adjustment locks are on the inside of the panel, so once installed, the Endura Flap Panel cannot be lifted out and removed without first loosening the adjustment locks from inside the home.

Does it come in any color other than white?

While our vinyl panels are only built in white, you can paint the vinyl to match your home using an appropriate paint for the material. You will want to use a bonding primer and a vinyl-safe acrylic paint in the color of your choice.

Step 1 Loosen Height Adjustment Locks

Loosen the height adjustment locks at the top of the pet panel with the screwdriver. This allows the spring mechanism to move freely up and down.

Step 2 Test Fit the Panel in Your Track

You want to put the pet door in your track before applying any weather stripping to ensure it fits. If the panel fits well, proceed to the next step. See the Troubleshooting Section if you encounter difficulties.
To insert the panel into the top track, push up against the spring mechanism and swing the bottom of the panel up and over the threshold.
Seat the panel on top of the small guide rail in the track.
If you can't quite get it in the track, try swinging in from the outside as the outside track wall may be shorter.

Step 3 Apply Weatherstripping

Once you're sure the panel fits, remove it from the frame and lay it on its side on the ground.
For foam weatherstripping: Peel the backing off the foam weatherstripping. Press it along both edges of the panel, trimming as needed with scissors to ensure a snug fit.
For rubber weatherstripping: Clean the edge of your sliding door or window with rubbing alcohol to help the weatherstripping stick properly. Starting at the top or bottom, peel and press the strip into place with the folded edge facing indoors—align angled cuts if you have two pieces. For best results, apply the seal to the sliding door or window, but it can go on the pet door panel if needed.
Foam weatherstripping is applied onto both sides of the panel, but the rubber weather stripping only applies on the side of the slider door. Your panel will come with one type of weather stripping. You do not need both types.

Step 4 Install the Draft Stopper

The center post weather seal strip (draft stopper) should be installed on the inside of the home.
It can install on either the back edge of the sliding door panel or the leading edge of the stationary panel.
This strip prevents air from leaking between the sliding glass door and the stationary panel.
Trim with scissors as needed. Clean the edge of your patio door with rubbing alcohol before installing to assure a good seal.
Repeat step two to install the panel in your track.

Step 5 Install the Panel

If you haven't already, insert the panel back into your sliding door track the same way you did earlier: pushing up against the spring mechanism and swinging the bottom into place. Push it snug into the side track!
Make sure everything is sitting securely.
Tighten the height adustment locks in the spring mechanism.
And that's it! Your pet door is installed and ready for use. Now, watch your pet strut through their new door like they own the place!

Step 1 Align the Connectors

Align the aluminum connectors extending from the bottom flap panel section with the top glass panel section. Remove the 4 sectional connectors screws before joining the sections.
Press the aluminum connectors into the holes at the bottom of the top glass panel section.
Ensure locking cover & height adjustment locks are on the same side!

Step 2 Assemble the Panel

To fully seat the connectors, gently tap the bottom edge of the panel against the ground
Tip: Place a towel or soft surface underneath to protect your floor, and the panel!
Fasten the two panels together using the four sectional connector screws.

Step 3 Loosen Height Adjustment Locks

Loosen the height adjustment locks at the top of the pet panel with the screwdriver. This allows the spring mechanism to move freely up and down.

How do I measure my door to get the correct height adjustment size? Measure from the innermost part of the bottom track to the innermost top part of the track. If there is a pencil railing, include that in the measurement because the panel straddles the railing.
I am looking at the multi dog sized doors for a sliding patio door. What are the differences between a vinyl dog door and an aluminum? The primary differences between vinyl and aluminum dog doors for sliding patio doors besides the material they are made out ofare in their thickness, energy efficiency, and material compatibility. Vinyl doors are typically 1.5" thick, offer better insulation, and match well with vinyl sliding doors due to their energy-efficient nature and thicker frames. Aluminum doors, on the other hand, are 1" thick, less insulating but highly durable, and they pair well with aluminum sliding doors for a consistent look and maintenance ease. \n \n When choosing between them, we recommend getting the panel that matches your sliding glass door's track material (aluminum with aluminum, or vinyl with vinyl) and will fit into your track's width.
I have a hurricane patio door. Will this pet door work for me? Hurricane door track styles vary widely, so they are case-by-case. Please reach out to customer service to discuss your pet door options for your sliding door.
If I custom order a short version of the Liberty Pet Door panel, could I install it into my window track? While it's possible, a more suitable option would be the Liberty Pet Door for Horizontal Sliding Windows, which is already available in standard window sizes.
Is the Endura Flap clear? It is a little foggy, but it is see through.
Is the flap flexible? It is flexible, but since it is two pieces sandwiched together it is a little stiffer and heavier than the more economical vinyl flaps.
Is there an electronic version of this panel? We do hope to offer that option in the future, but right now we are offering only the Endura Flap options.
Is this door good in a cold winter climate? I want something effective in our winter months. Yes, the Endura Flap has been tested in -40°F. The dual-pane glass provides excellent insulation value.
Is this the same as the Thermo Panel 3e? The Endura Flap Thermo Panel 3e is the aluminum frame version for sliding glass doors.
My sliding door track has a triangular guide rail. Will this pet door still work? Some sliding glass door tracks have a triangle-shaped guide rail instead of a cylindrical pencil rail running along the middle. This pet door panel has an arch along the bottom that is designed to sit on top of a cylindrical pencil rail. Pencil rails are shorter in height than triangular guide rails, which means that the pet door panel would wobble on top of it rather than sitting flush with the rest of the track. To accommodate the pet door panel you will need to build up the sides of the triangular guide rail so that the tip is less than ¼” tall. Please reach out to customer service if you have any questions about this process.
What are some breeds of dogs these will fit? Small would be Chihuahuas, Yorkies, and cats. Medium would be good for Corgis, Jack Russell Terriers, and French Bulldogs. Large would fit most Labs, Goldens, and Pit Bulls. Extra Large would be good for most Rottweilers, German Shepherds on the large side, and English Labs.
What do I do if this does not come in size that will fit my door? If none of these sizes will fit your door, you can order a custom fit Endura Flap Thermo Panel 3e.
What do the Step Over Range dimensions mean? The step over is the part of the panel under the actual door opening. Depending on the flap size purchased, the stepover can range from 3"-7". This means that you can adjust it to any stepover within that range. So if you have a puppy, you can keep adjusting it as he/she grows.
What does the recommended pet height mean? That column is what we recommend be the range of pet height that would be suitable for that particular flap size. So for example if you pet is 20"tall and could fit though a 10" wide opening, then you could go with the large flap.
What if my track is wider than 1-1/2"? It can still work if your track is wider, but if the channel in the bottom, top, or side measures less than that you will not be able to fit it into place properly.
What is the thickness of the Endura Flap aluminum panel? The Endura Flap Thermo Panel 3e is 1" thick. It is only thick enough for a single flap, not a double flap.
Will there be enough room for me to get through after the panel is installed? That depends on how wide your sliding glass door opens and how wide the panel you purchase is. Those dimensions can be found under the "Overall Panel Width" column.
Will this fit my aluminum sliding glass door? It could, but you risk condensation and an improper fit. Aluminum sliders have a narrow track, which vinyl panels may be too wide for. This is why we have the Liberty Pet Door Panel for Aluminum Sliding Glass Doors.
Will this form condensation like the aluminum panels? No condensation should form if you match the material of the pet door frame with the material of your sliding glass door. For example, if you have a vinyl slider, your panel should also be made of vinyl. Please note: aluminum components in the pet door are conductive and may still feel quite cold in the winter months.
Will this panel work if my sliding glass door has a buried track? Some sliding glass doors have buried tracks. Since this panel has an arch along the bottom that is designed to sit on top of a pencil rail, it will not be secure in a slider with a buried track without modifications. We recommend securing the panel to the track wall with L brackets or toenailing it to the track wall. Toenailing is the process of fastening the panel to the track by driving a nail at roughly a 45-degree angle into the panel and through the track wall. Please note that these modifications result in a semi-permanent installation. If you needed to remove the panel in the future you would first have to remove the L brackets or nails. Additionally, please note that this process would leave holes in the pet door panel and it would no longer be returnable. Will this pet door work with Anderson and Pella sliding doors? Anderson and Pella sliding glass doors have an inner track wall but no outer track wall. Additionally, the pencil rail is on the outer edge of the track rather than in the middle. Since this pet door panel is designed to sit between two track walls and on top of a centered pencil rail, it cannot be installed in Anderson or Pella doors without modifications. We recommend building out your track and using L brackets or toenailing to secure the bottom of the panel to the inner track wall. Building out the track means adding a piece of wood or vinyl that is the same height as the pencil rail to the space next to the pencil rail. This creates a flat surface for the pet door panel to sit on. Next, you will need to secure the panel to the track wall. To do this, you can use L brackets or you can toenail the panel into the track wall. Toenailing is the process of fastening the panel to the track by driving a nail at roughly a 45-degree angle into the panel and through the track wall. Please note that these modifications result in a semi-permanent installation. If you needed to remove the panel in the future you would first have to remove the L brackets or nails. Measure from the innermost part of the bottom track to the innermost top part of the track. If there is a pencil railing, include that in the measurement because the panel straddles the railing.

I am looking at the multi dog sized doors for a sliding patio door. What are the differences between a vinyl dog door and an aluminum?

The primary differences between vinyl and aluminum dog doors for sliding patio doors besides the material they are made out ofare in their thickness, energy efficiency, and material compatibility. Vinyl doors are typically 1.5" thick, offer better insulation, and match well with vinyl sliding doors due to their energy-efficient nature and thicker frames. Aluminum doors, on the other hand, are 1" thick, less insulating but highly durable, and they pair well with aluminum sliding doors for a consistent look and maintenance ease. \n \n When choosing between them, we recommend getting the panel that matches your sliding glass door's track material (aluminum with aluminum, or vinyl with vinyl) and will fit into your track's width.

I have a hurricane patio door. Will this pet door work for me?

If I custom order a short version of the Liberty Pet Door panel, could I install it into my window track?

While it's possible, a more suitable option would be the Liberty Pet Door for Horizontal Sliding Windows, which is already available in standard window sizes.

Is the Endura Flap clear?

It is a little foggy, but it is see through.

Is the flap flexible?

It is flexible, but since it is two pieces sandwiched together it is a little stiffer and heavier than the more economical vinyl flaps.

Is there an electronic version of this panel?

We do hope to offer that option in the future, but right now we are offering only the Endura Flap options.

Is this door good in a cold winter climate? I want something effective in our winter months.

Yes, the Endura Flap has been tested in -40°F. The dual-pane glass provides excellent insulation value.

Is this the same as the Thermo Panel 3e?

The Endura Flap Thermo Panel 3e is the aluminum frame version for sliding glass doors.

My sliding door track has a triangular guide rail. Will this pet door still work?

Some sliding glass door tracks have a triangle-shaped guide rail instead of a cylindrical pencil rail running along the middle. This pet door panel has an arch along the bottom that is designed to sit on top of a cylindrical pencil rail. Pencil rails are shorter in height than triangular guide rails, which means that the pet door panel would wobble on top of it rather than sitting flush with the rest of the track. To accommodate the pet door panel you will need to build up the sides of the triangular guide rail so that the tip is less than ¼” tall. What are some breeds of dogs these will fit?

Small would be Chihuahuas, Yorkies, and cats. Medium would be good for Corgis, Jack Russell Terriers, and French Bulldogs. Large would fit most Labs, Goldens, and Pit Bulls. Extra Large would be good for most Rottweilers, German Shepherds on the large side, and English Labs.

What do I do if this does not come in size that will fit my door?

If none of these sizes will fit your door, you can order a custom fit Endura Flap Thermo Panel 3e.

What do the Step Over Range dimensions mean?

The step over is the part of the panel under the actual door opening. Depending on the flap size purchased, the stepover can range from 3"-7". This means that you can adjust it to any stepover within that range. So if you have a puppy, you can keep adjusting it as he/she grows.

What does the recommended pet height mean?

That column is what we recommend be the range of pet height that would be suitable for that particular flap size. So for example if you pet is 20"tall and could fit though a 10" wide opening, then you could go with the large flap.

What if my track is wider than 1-1/2"?

It can still work if your track is wider, but if the channel in the bottom, top, or side measures less than that you will not be able to fit it into place properly.

What is the thickness of the Endura Flap aluminum panel?

The Endura Flap Thermo Panel 3e is 1" thick. It is only thick enough for a single flap, not a double flap.

Will there be enough room for me to get through after the panel is installed?

That depends on how wide your sliding glass door opens and how wide the panel you purchase is. Those dimensions can be found under the "Overall Panel Width" column.

Will this fit my aluminum sliding glass door?

It could, but you risk condensation and an improper fit. Aluminum sliders have a narrow track, which vinyl panels may be too wide for. This is why we have the Liberty Pet Door Panel for Aluminum Sliding Glass Doors.

Will this form condensation like the aluminum panels?

No condensation should form if you match the material of the pet door frame with the material of your sliding glass door. For example, if you have a vinyl slider, your panel should also be made of vinyl. Please note: aluminum components in the pet door are conductive and may still feel quite cold in the winter months.

Will this panel work if my sliding glass door has a buried track?

Some sliding glass doors have buried tracks. Since this panel has an arch along the bottom that is designed to sit on top of a pencil rail, it will not be secure in a slider with a buried track without modifications. We recommend securing the panel to the track wall with L brackets or toenailing it to the track wall. Toenailing is the process of fastening the panel to the track by driving a nail at roughly a 45-degree angle into the panel and through the track wall. Please note that these modifications result in a semi-permanent installation. If you needed to remove the panel in the future you would first have to remove the L brackets or nails. Additionally, please note that this process would leave holes in the pet door panel and it would no longer be returnable. Please reach out to customer service to further discuss your options for a buried track.

Will this pet door work with Anderson and Pella sliding doors?

Anderson and Pella sliding glass doors have an inner track wall but no outer track wall. Additionally, the pencil rail is on the outer edge of the track rather than in the middle. Since this pet door panel is designed to sit between two track walls and on top of a centered pencil rail, it cannot be installed in Anderson or Pella doors without modifications. We recommend building out your track and using L brackets or toenailing to secure the bottom of the panel to the inner track wall. Building out the track means adding a piece of wood or vinyl that is the same height as the pencil rail to the space next to the pencil rail. This creates a flat surface for the pet door panel to sit on. Next, you will need to secure the panel to the track wall. To do this, you can use L brackets or you can toenail the panel into the track wall. Toenailing is the process of fastening the panel to the track by driving a nail at roughly a 45-degree angle into the panel and through the track wall. Please note that these modifications result in a semi-permanent installation. If you needed to remove the panel in the future you would first have to remove the L brackets or nails. Additionally, please note that this process would leave holes in the pet door panel and it would no longer be returnable.
