  • Meh review by Rex
    5 2 Meh

Worked for a few months then the hinge parts at the top broke and it just kept falling off the screen. Eventually just pulled it off and tossed it. It was a cheaper option, but you get what you pay for. Wouldn't recommend this for dogs.

5 3 Works but kinda filmsy

I didn't want to spend a lot on a door for the outside screen enclosure...but maybe I should have. It works as a door for now, but even when I was installing it I could feel that the frames were kind of flimsy. Not sure how well it will hold up after a while..

5 2 would not reccommend for active dogs

I got this because it was one of the more affordable options. I have 2 pretty active dogs that like to bolt through this door. It worked for a few weeks before the flap started to break and come off.

5 4 Ok for small pets

Installs directly into the screen. Ok for small pet but not sturdy for larger, active pet.

  • It works but..... review by Slappy
    5 2 It works but.....

I bought the larger size door. I have small dogs and medium sized dogs. The Two parts of the door did not stay together. daily I was having to manually push the parts back together. I ended up putting small screws and nuts in the top right and left corner. The swinging door still comes apart but not as often. It serves its purpose but is a crappy product for its price. I should not have had to put so much extra work into this.

(ed note: This is one of the least expensive pet door alternatives. For a reliable, durable product we recommend something that is installed directly into the screen frame such as the Hale Pet Door for Screens.)

    5 1 Not worth it

I just spent over an hour trying to install this thing. It doesn't work. The idea is great but the pins don't snap together. I'm beyond frustrated!

  • problems review by Fred
    5 1 problems

The screen door, in spite of the claim that it fits pet screen, doesn't. The tabs are not long enough to close properly in the opposing holes and the whole thing falls off the pet screen. Better to open and close the screen door!!

I had to cut slits in the screen material so that the pins did go through. The trouble was and is, that the fibreglass pet screen (Used here in Canada anyway) is too thick and the pins cannot properly lock in place. I ended up gluing the door in place which isn't so bad but made the installation unnecessarily difficult.

  • Very Disappointed review by Dave
    5 1 Very Disappointed

Very disappointed in this piece of junk. Most of the locking pins which penetrate the screen material will not stay locked into the corresponding holes. Tried to use an adhesive to help it stay together but had to resort to using small machine screws to secure it. Waste of time and money.

  • Good product, but needs a couple of improvements review by Kevin
5 3 Good product, but needs a couple of improvements

The door is easy to install, sturdy, and very functional. However, keeping the edges attached to the screen has proven to be a real problem. Our 5 lb dog, although small, can sometimes be a little aggressive going out the door if she sees a squirrel. We regularly find ourselves reattaching the corners, but the plastic fasteners just aren't cutting it. After reading a few of the other reviews, we will try additional methods to keep the door functional as it's a great product otherwise.

    5 1 Screen Pet Door

The door worked well until my little dog got comfortable using it, then it ripped the screen. It would have worked better if it had a support frame that attaches to the whole width if the screen.

5 1 Not as good as I thought it would be

It will not stay together for very long. Dog is afraid of it since it came apart while she was going through it.

I will be replacing my screen so I can keep my door open again.

  • Works for little dogs review by Spuds
5 4 Works for little dogs

This in screen door works fine for our little dogs. My husband did, however, beef up the attachment with some little screws by drilling holes into the gate and using screws and nuts. It just didn't look like it would last without something extra. The dogs learned to use it quickly.

    5 4 Easy Installation

Ease of installation for any novice DIY'er, It took me only 15 mins from start to finish. And at least a week to get the dog trained to go in and out. Very happy with unit and pricing.

  • Needs a better fastening solution review by Andrew S
    5 2 Needs a better fastening solution

The pet door is an excellent solution and works well. However, the two sides connect via plastic lugs that do not hold fast when my dog (a 60 lb female yellow lab) goes in and out all day. I have engineered a DIY solution by drilling through the plastic junction points and inserting a set of bolts and nuts which really strengthen it. However I am not 100% happy yet as the bolts are a bit sharp to the touch. Still working on it.

Basically - the door needs help to strengthen the joints.

I've had this in my screen for 10 years now. Works great with the modification of using screws and small bolts to keep it in. We put 8 , 2 on each side. I haven't Had any issue since then!

    5 2 Disappointed

I have a small (10 lbs) and medium (35 lbs) dog and the door worked good for the small one. The medium dog was using the door with no problems but after 2 weeks the door started to separate from the screen door. I had to use fishing line to tie it back together so it didn't fall off. The after 4 weeks of both dogs using it the plastic hinges broke and now it flaps with the slightest breeze which let's bugs in. It's true about you get what you pay for. I'm very disappointed and I will only buy quality in the future. The price was right, the install was easy but the material was not good.

    5 2 Disappointment

This is the third door we have purchased. The first two were great! This third one, though, has been a disappointment. Once installed, the door flap did not move easily and we had to shave some plastic off the edges. Now the snaps don't stay locked. We are constantly having to resnap a corner. Today the whole thing came apart as the dog came through the door.

    5 3 It's OK

The price was right, but I guess you get what you pay for. The installation was super easy, but the snaps are not staying closed. I followed the directions exactly as they said, but the snaps keep on opening up. I had to put fishing wire through the corners to keep the unit from falling out of the screen.
If the company reads this, hopefully the will try a redesign why the snaps are not staying closed.

Awesome product for my 15 lb dachshund. With all the posts about it coming apart, I just drilled small holes in the corners and "sewed" it once it was on the screen. Cannot find nothing like this in any of the pet stores. Thank you for making this!!!

  • Good product but only lasts a year review by Michelle
5 3 Good product but only lasts a year

We love this pet door. Super easy to install and good price. Easy for or dog and cat to get outside. Only thing is that with heavy use, we replace it every year. Maybe our screen starts to stretch or something but it starts but it pulls on the screen and the two pieces start to disconnect. It eventually tears he screen so we have replaced the door and screen about 3 times now. But we still love it. We still order it and still recommend it.

ed note - Some customers have reported success using short bolts and acorn nuts (for safety) to fasten the two frames together more securely.

  • Great product! review by KN
    5 4 Great product!

We installed this pet door after our cats kept scratching our bedroom window screen to get in multiple times every night, and then meowing to go back out again. It was easy to install, and it works great. The cats took a couple of days to figure it out, but now they come and go very quietly and we can sleep through the night. One note -- I'm not sure how well it would work in a mosquito-prone area, since I suspect it doesn't seal around the edges well enough to keep them out.

  • works well review by Tine
    5 5 works well

I have two cats of average size and the small screen pet door works perfectly for them. Even if they gained 5 pounds, they still wouldn't have a problem fitting through the opening. I could not take the screen off the sliding glass door, so I had some difficulty with the installation, but it still did not take a long time to do it. The top corners do come apart every few days, but I solved that problem with a little super glue. My cats are happy, which means, I'm happy as well.

  • need improvement review by 2dogs
    5 3 need improvement

I have purchased this door before and was satisfied enough to do it again. This time, I had to buy bolts and acorn nuts in order for the door to stay together. The snaps would not stay together at all. I purchased 2 this time, however, because of the hassle of installing one, I still have not installed the other one.
Also, the door was really stiff, and now the only thing holding on the door is the screen it is attached to. The plastic strips holding the door to the frame broke. As long as it swings and stays mostly closed, it will be ok for a while.

  • Good suggestion review by Kbaydave
    5 4 Good suggestion

We have had several of these doors over the years and we keep getting new ones as the old ones tear out of the screen and the interior screening starts coming out. The indicator that a new one is needed is that the two halves' clasping parts stop holding the door together. The suggestion that you drill holes in the corners of the door and secure with screws and wing nuts has improved the longevity of the thing big-time. We will replace it when needed because both our dog and our cat are used to it, but the replacement will be less frequent since the corners are better secured.

ed. note - Acorn nuts are much safer than wing nuts for the application described.

This is my third pet door for screens. I had two in my old home and now have one in my new home. The dogs love it and it makes it so easy to let them in and out without having insects come in the house. I highly recommend this door.

I was not sure the door would hold on the screen but for the last 4 weeks it is doing great. Three dogs have no problem using it. Added (before installing) the additional acorn nuts/bolts (10-24 x 1/2" and used drill bit 3/16") in flat part of corners. There is a good install video at the Mfg's site if you need more help.

Not very reliable for larger dogs, 50 lbs+, they destroyed it in a week by running through it. I ended up mounting it to a piece of plywood and cut the plywood to fit the screen area. It is functioning well this way in my pool's screen enclosure. It would be a good product for making your own sized area when others will not fit.

My pet door has worked perfectly ever since I installed it. I put in the screen of bedroom window that opens into a cat enclosure in the back yard. Have 3 cats and all learned how to use it quite quickly. I think I might buy another one as two bedroom window join to the enclosure and one I'm just leaving open a little, without a screen... and bugs get in. Thanks for the great product... I've told all my friends w/pets about them. MzE in CA

    5 4 Great product

dog has no problem using the door. installing it was a little difficult because I cannot take screen of the track. However it is installed.
I WISH the clips held a little tighter. they loosen up as often as he uses it. the space around the flap is a tad big. allows bug into house. but it beats whats in second place. this is the third one I have had.

ed. note. We've had some customers report adding short bolts with acorn nuts (for safety) around the perimeter of the frame to improve rigidity, strength and seal.

    5 4 good choice

I installed this in a french door screen. I think it was a great choice, however, I did have to put screws in the frame to secure it together as my dog got a little rough with it and the pegs that snap it together are not very strong. I do wish the door itself was a solid flap however, maybe with a brush edge to help keep insects out.

  • Pretty darn good door review by pyat
5 5 Pretty darn good door

I have a fuul door screen and it fit well into the bottom corner. Plastic hinges are a bit on the tight side so if this is the first time your dog has used a door, you will have to help them open it. Once they get used to it there is no problem. I cut a piece of plexiglass to go over the flap to keep out rain and wind. Also cut a piece to fit next to the door to block same. This way I can keep the main door open even in rainy and cold weather. A little skill need but most anyone can install this.

No, but you could paint it.

Since it only uses your existing screen it is recommend for smaller less active pets.

It is relatively easy.

Yes there are small tabs that you slide in that will lock the flap.

Yes, but on thicker screen material it may be necessary to use additional methods to secure it so that it doesn't fall off. We have had customers put small screws in the corners or even use an adhesive to keep the frames together.

This really is only meant for screen material so it would not work on solid panels.

You don't need to replace the screen, since it uses your existing one. However if you remove the pet door you would need to replace it, as you would have an open hole in the screen.

It will keep out bugs.

It is plastic.

Yes, it has a two year warranty.
