Wondering how to install SureFlap into glass or other thin materials? With this mounting adapter from Sure Petcare, you can install your microchip cat door in glass, metal, walls, and other thin materials. The SureFlap Microchip Pet Door Mounting Adapter is used to mount the microchip pet door in a variety of different installation locations:
- As the SureFlap Glass Adapter: for glass installations, mounts in single or dual-paned tempered glass or plate glass.
- As the SureFlap Metal Door Adapter: mounts in storm door kick plates, metal doors, and UPVC-coated metal doors. These SureFlap mounting adapters are required for all metal door installations, as the microchip technology will malfunction without them. Note: you may need a metal-cutting jigsaw to cut a hole size large enough to fit the adaptor.
- Added Stability for Wall Installations: option to add to wall installations for increased stability.

Installing the SureFlap Microchip Pet Door Through Glass
Is this the raccoon-proof electronic pet door flap adaptor?
This is the Sureflap mounting adaptor for the larger SureFlap Pet Door and the Sureflap Microchip Pet Door Connect models. By itself, it cannot keep out intruder animals, but all the Sureflap Microchip cat flaps use your pet's microchip or a Sureflap RFID collar tag to control the locking mechanism, which, along with curfew mode, will help keep your pets safe in the middle of the night. Most of the doors, including the DualScan Microchip cat flap, can only fit small to large cats. Some pet owners report that their small dogs can use the door, but their identification microchips may not be in the right spot for the microchip sensor to operate correctly.
What doors does this work with?
This adaptor is a great product that will work with most Sureflap cat flaps, including the Sureflap DualScan.
Will the adaptor cover the low battery indicator on the flap opening?
No, when your battery life is low, the mounting adaptor will not prevent you from seeing the low battery indicator or from being able to replace the cell batteries.
How do I know if I need the mounting adaptor or the tunnel extender?
The tunnel extender is for installing into doors and walls that might be too thick for your cat flap. The mounting adaptor is for installing into materials that might be too thin, such as a metal or glass door. The mounting adaptor can be used for adding stability to in-wall installations. To know which one you need, you can also check out your door's installation instructions.
Will this interfere with my cat's microchip?
No, this will not prevent your dog door from detecting your cat's microchip.
Will this interfere with my Surefeed pet feeder?
No, this will not interfere with your pet feeder or prevent your cat from accessing their cat food.
