The aluminum Riser Extension may be recyled. For patio doors taller than 77”, do not remove the extension.

STEP THREE: Insert Section Connectors on the Bottom Frame Assembly panelusing (2)1/4-20 X 1/2 flat head machine screws for each Section Connector.

STEP FOUR: Insert Top Frame Assembly on to Bottom Frame Assembly.

STEP SEVEN: Make sure the lock holes in the Top Frame Assembly are facing the inside of your home. Position the pet door assembly into your sliding glass door frame by first inserting the pet door Bottom Panel into the bottom of your door track so that the Simi-circular groves in the pet door Bottom Panel are placed over the sliding rail at the base of your sliding glass door track. Tilt the pet door assembly up. Pull down on the Top Slider. Insert the Top Slider into the top of your door track and release, allowing it to move up into the top of the track.

STEP EIGHT: Install a House Lock Tab on the wall side of the pet door by screwing(2) #6 X ½” round head sheet metal screws into the pre-drilled holes on the pet door. Position the Tab with the open end pointing downward as shown.

STEP NINE: Mark the height of the House Lock Tab on your sliding glass door track. STEP FOURTEEN: If you choose not to use the Universal Lock Assembly, install the Rectangular Hole Plug in the lock cavity on the open side of the assembled door panel. This will allow you to apply weather stripping over the cavity. If you will be installing the Universal Lock, skip this step and proceed to Step 15.

    FAQ

Does my dog have to wear the collar tag to use the door?

Yes. Check out our top electronic dog door picks to discover doors with different key options.

    Is the collar key waterproof?

Yes, the included MS-5 collar key is waterproof.

Can I purchase additional collar keys if I have more than one pet?

Yes, you can purchase additional collar keys here.

What locking mechanism can I use for the High Tech Power Pet patio panel?

The door comes with a pin lock you can install. Alternatively, you can purchase a Charley Bar for security on a patio door insert.

If my dog takes too long coming through the door, will it continue to close and injure them?

No, the door has a built in safety feature that retracts the door if it senses an obstacle to closing. The power pet electronic pet door also has a 4-way access control sensing system.

    How big is the collar?

The dog collar weighs less than one ounce, and measures approximately 1 inch by 1 inch by 1/2 inch.

How long do the batteries in the collar typically last?

Depending upon use, approximately 3 months. There is a button you can push on the transmitter which you can push and a red light will shine. The brighter the light, the stronger the batteries.

What happens if the electricity goes out and my dog is outside?

Your dog will be locked outside. A Battery Backup, with an optional rechargeable battery, can be purchased separately and is recommended if you live in an area with frequent power outages.

I have more than one dog. How many collars ship with the door and are others available?

The new pet door ships with one collar and additional collars are available for purchase.

Does anyone have concerns with intruders breaking in?

The door has a 4-way locking mechanism and smartkey sensing technology (both in and out, in- only, out-only, and closed).

Can you still slide the door for humans when it's installed?

Yes you can, the electric pet door panel just takes up some space from your normal walkway. Refer to the overall width of the panel to determine the space it will take up.

If the dog is extra large and the cat is small, they could easily follow them out. Even though your cat is not wearing a collar, there is a bit of a lead time so it may follow your dog through the door.

Do you have a bigger electronic dog door for sliding doors?

The high tech power pet patio door is the only automatic dog door for sliding glass door installation, and the largest size is 12" x 16", suitable for dogs 21" at the shoulders.

Is this electronic dog door large enough for a great dane?

Giant dog doors are only available in the manual pet door models like the Hale. The electronic dog door for sliding glass options are pretty limited so many times customers will have to find an alternate installation spot.
